when i was at the ricklatham clinic, he took that tama throne over everything else in the store, but he is fat so he mgiht have not felt anyhting under him.

mooffy
10-25-2005, 04:24 PM
why not just go out to a store and try them yourself? rather then ordering it and finding out its no good.

eirlisdrumer
10-25-2005, 04:24 PM
well number one, its big as can be (17" across!!), but its a 'wide rider' so im thinkin that with someone of heavier weight, it wouldnt be as hard or as big. but iv heard that on some thrones it takes a while to wear in and get comfy. is this true?

aznriceball
10-25-2005, 04:24 PM
out of stock

poppinfresh
10-25-2005, 04:25 PM
that is true, but i wouldnt risk it, just return it and get a porkpie or roc n soc, those are more trusted brands when it comes to thrones.

Roc 'N Soc. BEST THRONE EVER. I was considering a Pork Pie, but I find the RocnSoc more comfy, and its about 100$ cheaper here

I wouldn't trade my roc n soc for anything. It's more comfortable than any furniture ever. I'd sleep on it if it were bigger.

I place my endorsement with Pork Pie. I have one and it's sooooo comfy. I want with with a back to it and some wheels to use as an office chair at work.

couldn't agree more, pork pies are unbelievably comfortable (especially the older ones), and not to mention good looking.

Lets put it this way, every time I sit in my pork pie, I cream my pants, and every time I look at my pork pie, I cream my pants.
I have an older one though, and I've heard that newer ones are a little stiffer.

DW9100 are great, but I guess if you think the Tama is too stiff then you might not like it because it's relatively stiff as well, but the cushion does soften.

They also crack after long periods of use (like over a year), but that isnt no biggy really.

This is the mistake that most of you make. You hear Tama or Dw and you get excited.Do not ignore other companies that are not so advertised.Yamaha has the best drums and harware in my opinion.don't forget that most of the top drummers prefer Yamaha. The thrones of this company are very comfortable. But there is the cheap solution of the desk chair. You can save your money and buy somehting else.

It's funny, You say get a Pork Pie, But to me The Tama and Porkpie are two of the most similiar feeling thrones.

I own a Pork Pie and love it. But my next choice was the Tama wide rider
/Is fat

poppinfresh
10-26-2005, 03:46 PM
thats very true, the ccmpanies that advertise the least are the ones which people trust because they are reliable and people always use their products so they dont have to worry about putting out too many ads.

The Gibraltar (makers of Roc'n'Soc) equivelent of a a Pork Pie-style throne is their "Prism Series" The ONLY drawback of this line is it comes with no backrest. It's insanely comfortable and the cusion is like six inches thick, if not more. I LOVE mine. I can post pictures if you want. The legs on this thing are MASSIVE. It'd hold whales. That's right. WHALES.

Drum Phil

10-26-2005, 05:09 PM
how come cheap thrones suck so bad? surely, it can't be THAT hard to make them a bit softer. hell, I imagine they'd probably even save money if they stuffed it with less whatever-the-hell-they-stuff-it-with.

I hate when companies go out of their way to make the quality of their cheaper products sh!tty so that people will pay more for their marked-up decent quality products. bleh.

eirlisdrumer
10-26-2005, 05:30 PM
its not a sh!tty throne, just cause its not a 200$ throne doesnt mean it sucks, i didnt get the throne just cuz its tama, i got cuz i got recomended to it, and good feedback.

"most of the top drummers prefer Yamaha". I would see most as being a large majority, but that isn't the case. Yamaha is up there, but there isn't one company that completely dominates the drum industry. It's for the most part an oligopoly, Yamaha is nowhere near dominating as far as an artist roster goes.
