Holy Good Gravy! I just saw Pink Floyd The Wall, and that is one nutty movie! before now I never realized the dark side to their songs, iv heard them, and the DID sound angry to me, but the lyrics never registered in my head. I msut say though, the part where the kids are going through the factory was a interesting part, but the scariest part was when he puts the bullet on the railroad tracks and sees all the children in the cars. (right before the factory part) anyway, that was an effin' good film

It definitely rocks. I like the part during Comfortably Numb when they're darring him downstairs and that stuff starts covering his body.

I think the animated sequences are the greatest.

Especially when the Wall is being rapidly built.

Is this a movie acted out with the music over it or something? I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan.

Mostly, there's no words in the movie at all.

It's acted and there are some really trippy animation scenes in there, too.

its not a movie per se, as in the style that we are used to, its more of a breif look at roger waters life as a child and the feelings that inspired him later on when he played with Pink Floyd. things to look for would be like the scene when the teacher yells at him for writing poetry, and when he's trying on his father's old military uniform

My favorite parts are the animation sequences for Goodbye Blue Sky and Empty Spaces, and the part on The Thin Ice with the blood filled pool.

So it isn't something you have to be stoned to watch...because that's what I've been told.

No. Too many people associate Pink Floyd with drugs. You don't need to be stoned to enjoy this movie, or their music. You can if you want to be, but it isn't necessary.

Basically, the movie is 90% about Roger's childhood and early life, and 10% about Syd's struggle with stardom.

Many of the most powerful parts (the shaving of all of Pink's hair) is stuff that Syd did when he suffered his mental collapse.

You do NOT need drugs to watch, understand or enjoy this movie. You do need to listen to the music and feel the emotions, because there is very few spoken parts in this movie. If you can read the lyrics to the songs, the movie will make all the more sense.

It also helps to know a smattering of World War II history and how Waters' childhood was influenced by it: a lot of the cartoons and war references become much more pronounced and assists in both the realization of just how ambitious "The Wall" is and what the plot is.

For instance, in the first animated sequence, set to "Goodbye Blue Sky," the flock of doves morphs into what is clearly a giant Nazi eagle.

And then of course you have the sequence with In The Flesh, Run Like Hell, Waiting For The Worms, and Stop.

He almost lopped his nipple off. That was scary.

Oh, if I put something else it must've been a typo. I also was trying to say you don't need to be stoned to watch it.

The part where he shaves himself is pretty weird. Good thing he missed that nipple.

Is that on DVD/VHS at all?

Yeah. Geldof actually shaved himself in that part of the movie too.. They said he only needed to do his eyebrows, but he went all out. Yes, he actually bled.

The part where young Pink finds the uniform, is Waters' life. His father died in WW2 (The Final Cut is.. Basically the story), and he.. I'm assuming, found the uniform at a young age, and didn't understand it.

REALLY good movie.

I don't think so, no. Their last ever full gig (well, of the post-Waters era anyway) is coming out on DVD later this year...it's already available on CD as Pulse, but they've never done a live DVD of The Wall. It's a great movie though. I fully agree with Riva about not needing drugs to enjoy it at all...it's the same with the band's music. People always say that you need drugs to enjoy it properly, but their music is far too good for that to be true. Incredible album, great film.

I know about the Pulse DVD via PF thread, I'm really looking forward to it, It's the only thing on my christmas list at the moment.

This DVD I have could be released to the public. I could tell that the band did have this video done. They probably havent released it yet because of the mediocre video quality.

The Wall is a fantastic movie. I like all the scenes where he's in his hotel room, enclosed trying to get away from sociallife, and he just goes ballistic, and he reminicents on his hurtfull past. Then he starts forming into the Hitler-esque ego, very very good film. Easy to relate to.

I just watched it again, and this time I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the main parts of the film, but the score instead. When one listen's to the lyrics and just "sees" the visual part of the movie, it adds a whole nother dynamic to it. And why the hell does Pink Floyd always have to be assosiated with drugs?? Sure, the most likely were drugs used in the writing of a number of their songs, but is all that people seem to assossiate with Pink...WTF?? Yet another reason to hate Humanity at large...
