You know how everyone rushes for the sniper rifles on shooter games like Halo 2? Or how you can never get the sniper slots because everyone else is trying to get them if you're playing a game like America's Army? Well, Sniper Elite is for everyone who loves sniping. It's a much slower-paced game then most games that just have a sniper in them, but it's still great. I'm not a big fan of stealth games, but this game more then makes up for it in the gameplay and actual sniping. I just beat the first mission, and it took me about an hour and a half. Basically you crawl/crouch around from cover to cover and you can use binoculars or your sniper scope to scan for enemies and enemy snipers that are hidden all over the place. Your binoculars zoom in much further then the sniper rifle you have in the first level. I hope you get a sniper that zooms in farther because it doesn't really zoom in that far. The longest headshot I had in the first level was 107 meters. Your bullets will also go through more then one person so if you can get the shot lined up, you can kill a few guys with one shot. The slo-mo bullet cam is awesome, and when the bullet hits chunks fly everywhere. You also get the slo-mo cam even if it's not a headshot but some other special kill.. like moving target, etc.

Anyway, it's not really complex.. at least not yet. There were 4 missions in the first level and 1 sub mission, but it was pretty straightforward. You just have to scout out the area and pick off enemy snipers, you can't just rush in the most direct and obvious route without recon.

The storyline is that you're an American sniper disguised as a German soldier and you're trying to stop the Russians from getting their hands on the German's research on the atomic bomb. You're disguised so that you can kill the Russians and the USA can deny your existence.

On easier difficulties, no. You can either choose a hard difficulty that enables all that stuff, or do it custom so you can make the enemie AI easy but have all the tough sniper crap enabled. The stuff you can turn on/off: gravity, wind, posture and heart rate.

Yep. It's hard to capture it with a screenshot because it's in a kind of blurred bullet time, but it's sweet as hell. And even if it doesn't go into bullet cam (that's only for certain shots), you can still see chunks fly out and regular speed.

Another thing that's cool is that you can set trip grenades. You can also use machine guns etc but I never even bother picking them up, I just use my sniper and my pistol if I'm sneaky enough for a silent kill.

I'm getting ****in pissed at this ****. The first two levels were long but relatively straightforward. The third level throws a lot more guys at you at one time with plenty of alley ways etc so they can flank you. :mad:

You might want to reconsider. I was looking at the gamefaq forums for the game and someone said the PC version is far superior graphically then the XBOX.

I have a 9800 Pro and I have everything maxed out and it runs fine. I'm pretty sure any video card could handle this game at least on low, it's not exactly F.E.A.R.

I'll definetly give it a go on my PC when it comes (going to take over a day to download). I know PC games generally have better graphics and are better when it comes to mods and stuff but my PC isn't that great for games and I can't upgrade it for a few months.

Hahahah the best is when the guy you snipe is standing near a wall, so you can see/hear his head thwack back into the wall, then the body slowly slumps down. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Edit: Wow! The AI is pretty good in this game too. If you don't get the bullet cam, sometimes the enemy still rolls around on the ground screaming for a few minutes before they die after you shoot them. Well this one guy was screaming "Medic!" so one of the remaining enemies who was alive ran out, picked up the guy and started running back to cover! Of course he never made it.. muahahah

Sweet. This game is pretty hard. :( I just beat the second to last mission (then there's a bonus mission, but I don't know if that's a full-length mission) and it was loooong and quite hard. You can choose your difficulty before each mission, so I usually play on Marksman or Sniper Elite and long range shots are nearly impossible to get on the first shot.

I love settings traps for enemies though, trip wire grenades are the best. I don't know why more games don't have them.

Yeah, I have the second sniper rifle right now. I'm on the level where you have to defend some people at a train station or something. It's right after the one where you blow up the fuel dump.

I just got round to installing this after getting hold of a noDVD crack and keygen.

Just shot a russian in the face on the move as he went to check on his dead comrade on the first level and it did the thing where it followed the bullet as it went in her eye, pretty cool.

I'm just crawling around exploring now.

Klown, I'm pretty sure you need to be stealthy. I chilled under the truck on the far side of the level until the general came. By the way, did you find/kill the sniper on that level? It took me freakin forever to find out where he was.

I played this game at my friends house and I must say this, it was amazing. I shot this dude in the leg and he went down then I sniped him in the head and it did the cool slo-mo thing, and tore out his eye.

Yea that's a good way to get a moving target if you don't want to have the possibility of missing the headshot. Just shoot them in the torso or legs/arms and they'll pause and their head will go down slightly. Boom headshot! I love how their head snaps back and they just slowly fall backwards.

I need an answer pretty quick, Im going out in 2 hours time, and I might get this game. If the limited saves feature sucks then I might ont get it. Whats your opinion on it?

It doesn't have limited saves. You get a point penalty if you use more the 5 saves per section of a mission, but it doesn't matter. The points don't do anything like unlock stuff as far as I know, it's just like a high score record.

i just bought this game 2 days ago and im enjoying it very much especially the online mode as the every one of the levels is huuuuuuuuge, and you also get an overwhelming sense of greatness when you takeout 2 or 3 guys with 1 bullet kinda makes me feel like jude law in enemy at the gates. i havent played much of the offline mode but what i have played of it is quite hard but still very enjoyable.The game in general makes me look at the very cheap price tag and ponder.well worth £17.99 in my opinion

I'm on the escape from Berlin set of missions, I haven't played for a week or so though.

I've had the grenade thing happen, I also managed to get a double long range covert headshot once. :cool:

Im currently on the "Scientist" missions, Ive just finished the one here you have to take out a special officier, blow up a truck convoy, get some papers from the officiers hideout, then go to Anhaltzer station.

I got 2 more double headshots, making a total of 3 so far :D
