2 exciting new titles hit the shelves recently
Soul Calibur 3
and
Grand Theft Auto : Liberty City Stories
I can expect both of these titles to be rated at 9/10, with insane amounts of each being sold...
with that in mind...what are you buying?
p.s. Im also buying Metroid Pinball (that comes with the rumble pack)

I'm not really buying any games at the moment, I'm trying to slowly complete every game I have, which isn't going to happen anytime soon, some of Soul Caliber 2 is just too hard to do. Also, I've been very distracted with Xbox Live, damn you Halo 2
But, I think I might buy Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood soon....or something similar...

i tend to counter a sh!t load in that game. Its probably the greatest ONE thing you can get good at in that game. Its take a LONG time to master, trust me, but the look on peoples faces, like at an arcade, is priceless :D
i also pick charade, cause thats 'how I do"

I found Charade was pretty meh, I use Mitsirugi or Yoshimitsu, but If I'm playing Weapon Master, I'll change my character all the time

my bro uses yoshimitsu WAY too much.
I pick charade just so i can get good with everyone simultaneously. Like i said, i counter 80% of peoples moves, so it really doesnt matter which character i choose. With that in mind, I also like the randomness because people dont know what to expect from round to round

so you're saying that you just DONT block at all, or not nearly enough?
i found that game to ONLY be masterable with an arcade stick. Last week i bought the Tekken 5 bundle pack specifically for that namco first party arcade stick.

Well....I do block, I thought there was 2 types of blocking techniques? I'll re-read the instructions later actually...

well, you can block, with the button, you can parry by push back and block precisely when the move would hit. You can repel (which i rule at) by pressing forward and block precisely when the move would hit
you can also knock their vertical attacks away with certain horizontal attacks, and vice versa

Re4 Is great for Game cube. They are putting more Ada missions on it for PS2, But I doubt it will live up to the game cube visually.

that seems almost impossible...
considering the PS2 is supposed to me "more advanced"

The 2 player is awesome. Sometimes you will trade off riffs, like I play first riff then you play second and someitmes you will play at the same time.
The whammy bar actually works. You can use it at any time and you hear the pitch change. It's even got a tilt senser built into the guitar so when you pull back on the neck in rock star fashion you get rewarded for doing so.
I was expecting it to be lame but it's actually the closest thing to playing a guitar I've come across. Even though you only have 5 buttons when you play solos and stuff it's a challenge.
I could see it being an awesome game to have when drinking buddies come over. :D

wow, that was a more concise idea then ive ever heard before....
i actually heard some dude talking sh!t on it about it only has 5 frets or some other junk... but you gotta figure, they have to make so ANY one can play it, as well as having guitar players actually like it
you ever play that drum game made by DDR people? its phenomenal

No, I'd love to play it though. I really enjoy those kinds of games (not DDR, well I would if I was any good I guess  )

I probably won't be buying anything until 360 comes out. But now that I've said that, I'll probably end up at the used game store buying something stupid today.

Have you ever played bejeweled? It's a bejeweled clone, albeit the best bejeweled clone ever.
Here (http://www.2flashgames.com/f/f-231.htm)'s a link to the free flash version. The DS version has better graphics, smoother animation, a randomly chosen 'lucky animal' which gives you double points, different modes including a 10-part quest and multiplayer battle, and the stylus control which is possibly the most intuitive control scheme for any game ever. If you're an idiot, however, you can still use D-pad and buttons.
I'm not going to bother reviewing it because this (http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/zoo/review-zookeeper.htm) one is perfect. Basically, pick it up if you like puzzle games and can get it cheap.
As for the other games:
Astro Boy: One of my favourite GBA games ever. Not particularly hard (so far) when compared to Gunstar Heroes, Mega Man etc, but if you're a fan of the genre you owe it to yourself to buy it. Especially because it's so cheap (http://www.simplygames.com/product.asp?id=4737) these days.
Sonic Advance 2: Not so bad but nowhere near as good as the first so far (about 30 mins of play).
Super Monkey Ball: Very fun/addictive, surprisingly difficult to say it has 'cutesy' graphics, easily worth the £10 (http://www.simplygames.com/product.asp?id=2646) I paid for it
The rest either haven't been delivered yet or I haven't played them enough to warrant writing anything about them.

I haven't played meteos yet - waiting until I can pick it up for the right price. I'll be very surprised if it isn't better than Zoo Keeper.

3 opponents? Does it have 4-player single cart multiplayer? I have 6 or 7 friends with DS's and at the moment all we play is Bomberman, and we need another multiplayer game to tide us over until Mario Kart...
Kurrpt
10-31-2005, 10:42 AM
yes, yes you can...
i will say the metroid multiplayer off one cart is surprisingly brilliant
