My friend has a really nice peavey guitar, about a year old and seriously he's only played it about 3 times, mostly because hes impatient to learn anything.

Anyways, i was there when he bought it and it cost about $850 and he said i could by it for $300.

Ive seen it many times, but could never play it because he sold his amp. I was wanting to know if this would be a good deal. Are peavey guitars GOOD guitars, because i want something that is going to be good. How is there tone? Can anybody tell me if I should do this, and if you could, tell me anything else you know about them.

By the way, im not sure what model it is, but it does look very similar to the EVH wolfgang peavey. Also, the one time I picked it up, it was very lite, does that mean anything.

Thanks

Well if you have an amp try bringing you're amp over and trying it. Peavey guitars are pretty cool, there are quite a few famous guitarists that use them and I myself have played one and enjoyed using it.

300 dollars for it seems a good deal.

if it is a Raptor Plus, don't buy it. in fact, avoid it at all costs. my friend got my to take a look at the wiring on his because it was humming too much. I take the pickgaurd off and found rat's nest of unshielded, ungrounded wires, and the body was made of particleboard (it had a matte finish so you couldn't tell from the outside). It was an old one, he got it at christmas in like 2001 or something so the new ones might be better, but . . .
I've plenty of good things about peavey's in general, though. don't be put off

Peavey's higher end wolfgangs aren't too bad at all. Raptors and Raptor plus's aren't that great, but if he said he paid around 800 for it new, then there's no way it would be a Raptor. Perhaps you can find a picture of one similar to what it is, and post it for us?

By the way, late 80's era Peavey Predators = the sex.

it looks like a wolfgang only with one humbucker and two single coils. I think its called a peavey ltd st or something like that.

Thanks for the replies.
