Hey guys. Last month I bought a Sonor 2005 to replace the old Percussion Plus. Although it was hard, I waited until I received an extra floor tom to take pictures. Special thanks to Damo for selling the kit to me, and putting up with my long hours of examination :)

This kit is great, I love playing it.

Specs:
Sonor Force 2005, 10/12/14/16/22 with 14" snare

Zildjian 14" A Custom Hihats
Zildjian 16" K Dark Crash
Sabian 10" AAX Splash
Sabian 18" HH China
Sabian 20" AA Medium Ride
Paiste 16" Sig Reflector Full Crash
Paiste 17" Sig Full Crash
Paiste 18" Dimensions Crash
and a brandless cymbal I won off ebay for AU$0.99. It was actually a pair of hihats, worked better as a splash and even better as a china. The holes, mathematically positioned and sized, enhance the "trashy-ness" of this dirt cheap cymbal.

I was going to buy new heads last weekened because Billy Hyde stores were having a sale.. but they only had pinstripes. Theres still life left in the stock ones though, so they'll last me a bit longer.

Damo helped me out a lot in explaining what differences there are between the two kits. In the end, it came down to birch = power, which is what I was looking for. I bought it from Kosmic in Australia.

I always thought that the names go by how good they are not by which wood is used. I prefer birch too, that means I won't bust out my equations on you. Good job on your buy:thumb: Have fun playing it

Be warned, I have been studying for a maths test all last night... so I'm ready when you are. And E=mc squared is a physics equation, so your first attempt is void!

Hook me up with the equation you used. I'm going to do the same to an old ****ty hi-hat top. Is it just a spiral of archimedes shifted 4 times? how would you go about putting polar coordinates on a cymbal.... hmmm...

The heads a remo cs-dot.

Its a simple sinusoidal wave function with an amplitude of 1/6 * diameter. The holes sizes represent an exponential decay... but maybe we should discuss this further in the maths forums :thumb:

Ah, I was thinking you used something parabolic or hyperbolic. But how did you get the period decided? Oh yeah, and where are your axis set up? I'm not really seeing the sine function, unless it ends in 4 different places where the bell meets the bow, with the axis being where the smallest dot is...?

I love you.

Great kit, great cymbals, great heads (generally).

I am officially sold on Sonor now, after hearing Steve Smiths drums on his dvd, sure they're processed, but they're some of the nicest drums I've ever heard (way better than Portnoys on the Light theatre experiment or whatever it's called.)

Hahaha, that's actually a medal board. I don't think you can get scouts in Australia (I could be wrong). All my medal's (and bro's) from various sports are hung on that board.. I don't know why we don't hang it up. Its been sitting in that spot for about 5 years now, atleast its in the open now (We had a couch in front of it not too long ago)

Just a regular grey dot

demondrummer1
10-26-2005, 06:19 AM
I've never heard of a grey dot.. Transparent black, white, on different sides of the head, but no grey dot.
Thanks. I love the look of it, if it sounds nice, I'm getting one.
