I got bored yesterday afternoon, so I decided to experiment with double tracking and other stuff.

The whole song is tuned half a step down.

I have 4 guitars on the verses and choruses and I believe 9 on the two Solos.
On the verses in Choruses I have...
Electric-Clean, Chords only - 70% left.
Acoustic, Chords only - 70% right.
Electric-Chorus-, Riff only - 70% right.
Acoustic, riff only - 70% left.

So it sounds pretty awesome during the choruses and verses.

Then in the Solos I have...

Electric-Clean, Chords only - 70% left.
Acoustic, Chords only - 70% right.
Electric-Chorus-, Riff only - 70% right.
Acoustic, riff only - 70% left.
Electric-Dist, Riff, Middle Octave. 70% right.
Electric-Dist, riff, High Octave 70% left.
Electric-Dist, Riff, Low Octave, 70% right.
Acoustic, Riff only, Low Octave 70% left.
Acoustic Riff only, Mid Octave 70% right.

It could probably use 1 more guitar in the left. It gives almost like, an accordian or organ type tone. The High octave electric guitar really stands out.

Anyways, I did vocals and backing vocals and all guitars, let me know what you think.

Doing a cover of a song which is best known as a cover is a bit much.

Recording was good though. Singing goes off pitch in some places.

Alright, I only did the vocals in 1 take for each track. Which is good, because I know I could nail it perfectly if I put enough takes into it, but it took me forever to record the guitar parts.

But I'm glad with how it came out. This is the second time I've tried to record this song, so now I might move on to somethign heavy, really find out how crappy my singing is.

that was just ok, i love that song and know it very well and I don't think this does it justice, sounds flat

i believe there's nothing wrong with playing any song you want (cover of a cover)

haha great choice of cover, I love that song. I thought the singing was ok even if it did go out of tune a bit.

The Verses and choruses came out sounding really weak, as they do when ever I cover the song.

The only thing i can think to do is to kick in with distortion and rasp during the choruses, and do more of a nirvana kind of quiet hard quiet hard sorta thing.
Any suggestions?
