I was looking at the Jackson DXMG http://www.music123.com/Jackson-DXMG--i71131.music or the Schector Damien http://www.music123.com/Schecter-Damien-FR-i157402.music and was wondering if you can get a good sound out of the emg's. I've from a few people that you cant really do pinch harmonics, or get a good sound out of emg's that aren't active. Does anybody know from experience is this is true?

The EMG hzs are generally considered a bit weak. Of course, you won't get anything particularly good in any guitar at that price range, so it's not that big a deal.
You can do pinch harmonics just fine on them though. They aren't a terrible stock pickup, but I'd definitely go aftermarket eventually.

EMG HZ's are alright but if you have enough money get EMG active pickups and put them in

I love EMG actives, but in my opinion, the stock jackson pickups on my JS20 sound better than the HZs on my DKMGT

does anyone know how long the batteries for the active pickups last until they need to be replaced?

EMG claims they last 275 hours, I believe.
Does anyone have experience with the EMG-DG20 setup? I'm interested...Dave sounded really good on pulse..but I haven't been impressed with single coils so far.
That said, I haven't been greatly impressed by any pickup I've played...I'm still looking for something I can love. :(
