I see...the only one I wasn't sure I wanted to do was Annhiliation of the Wicked. The one I'm most worried about is In Their Darkened Shrines, with the other two close behind. You can have Amongst the Catacombs, I'll see what happens in the mean time.

Because us southerners are less equiped to deal with a little bit of snow, whereas you folks have fancy shmancy plows and things of that sort to deal with it.
We rarely get snow, and when we do, it's usually very little in comparison to our neighbors to the north, but since we seldom see it, we get a free pass out of skool.

I remember hearing about a southern snow story years ago. Some city in New Mexico got about 1" of snow and virtually all activity in the entire city shut down for the day. It was the first time any of the residents had seen snow.

3.5 inches of snow that all stuck to the road and made the streets really slick.
It sucked, it was all powdery and crud.
Setlist for band I might be joining-
Green Day- F.O.D. and Jesus of Suburbia
The Who- My Generation
The Beatles- The End, While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Foo Fighters- All My Life- I don't really like that song too much though, I might decline since one of the guitarists refused playing any Coheed & Cambria
Plus a couple others, and then the 2 guitarists have 10 songs written, but no bass parts to them. I'm looking foward to writing some nifty bass solos that I plan on sticking in the songs. :)

Well, it decreases load for one. Since the subs have been kicked, the site seems more reliable.
And to an extend it has security reasons in the current situation. As mod accounts can possibly be hijacked scaringly easy with the right means, it provides a way to not let the hijacker see special forums (mod forum for example) from thread or forum subscriptions

Turns out, the only person in the two bands playing that has a car is totally drunk, so they had no way of getting me there really.
Not only that today, but my sister's car broke down in the parking lot of a restaraunt in a twon a half hour away, and we sat for over and hour trying to find out what was wrong and waiting for my mom to come pick us up.

I had the worst gig tonight.
I get to the bluegrass bar and it turns out it's been double booked and another band is going to play, so I talk to the guy and tell him I was promised till 7:00 and he says "sorry". So I ask him to at least let me play 5 songs and he says alright. So I get up there and start playing blackbird and then he starts encouraging the crowd to boo me and throw insults and stuff. So since he decided to handle things so imaturely I reacted the same way. I started breaking equipment and turned over a table or two. I ended up being thrown out of the place but I put I still put up a fight.

Work right now is getting boring. I did all the interesting stuff already, and all that's left today is waiting for the darn slow program to compute the stuff I fed it.
I have to go through 9 runs of data creation, and each run takes at least 10 to 15 minutes. Though it's nice to get money for sitting around... it still sucks. I can not listen to music here, or anything like that :upset:

Stereotypes. The other Scot that I talk to on MX is a raving drunk on the weekends, which leads to some hysterical conversations. Plus, he admits to wearing a kilt, which just expounds on the stereotype, heh.
For example, I wouldn't be surprised if people outside of the US thought of American MXers as fat, lazy, love to start wars, and whose citizens who eat McDonalds 24/7.
Another example are the Brits. The general stereotype is that they talk funny, say "Hello, poppet" and "Fo' o'clawk, tea toime!" all the time, and have bad teeth.
The Australians drink Foster's, put shrimp on the bar-bay, go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef all the time, talk like the Crocodile Hunter, and have pet koalas.
The New Zealanders **** sheep and eat kiwis.
The French are pussies.
The list could go on and on, heh.

I'm always logged into my private AIM address and MSN while at uni because I can seem if people left me messages or e-mails. It's rather humorous when the Aussies leave me messages at 3 or 4 in the morning, then forgetting that I'm 14-15 hours behind them.
*shakes fist*
But at least it leaves me with something humorous to read in the morning when I wake up, because they usually leave a quick joke or witty response to my away message.
On MSN, if I have my status set as "brb" or "away," chances are I'm at my computer. However, if I'm set as "Busy" or "Not available," then I'm not at my computer.

My defunct aunt's new husband out of nowhere (I'm not going to get into details here because she just pisses me off) is named Earl and he has the thickest, most extreme Southern dialect I've ever heard, Oklahoman or not. He's characteristically got that Southern hospitality, and he's some lame Baptist minister, but his dialect and his diction are hysterical. So hysterical, in fact, that I laughed at him when I first met him.

When I first met this guy (actually, it was the first time my entire extended family was going to meet this guy... we basically disowned this aunt because she was my mom's brother's wife [who died of cancer] and she went off and randomly married this dude), he had on a plaid long-sleeve shirt, jeans, the biggest God damn beltbuckle I've ever seen, tassles, boots, and a big, black hat. He also had this humongous ring on, so whenever he talked and shook hands, it was a riot.
"Hyuh, hyuh, hyuh, howdy ma'am, mah nayme's iz Earl, blessid ta meetcha, hyuh hyuh hyuh [rinse and repeat for all my aunts]."
And when he said Grace, I thought I was going to **** a brick or start cracking up in the middle of it.
"Dear Gawd, Hev'n'ly Farther, n our Lahrd Jebus Krist, we thankye fahr yer blessins', yer koindniesses... [to make a long prayer short]... n we happ'ly recoeive yer gifts from her boun-tay! Thriew Jebus Krist, arr Lahrd, AH-MIEN!"
When we finally all mustered an amen (that wasn't as enthusiastic as this guy was), my bottom lip had teeth marks.
This guy was a complete stranger, saying grace at a family function, blah blah blah. It was awkward. But bah Gawd, it was fun-nay, hyuh hyuh hyuh.

I don't know what black metal is, so I just use the words 'death' and 'black' interchangably. I've got to be right some of the time
I almost shat a brick when I read the post saying Slipknot isn't nu-metal.
I dunno, a case could probably be made. Nu-metal is a pretty wide-ranging genre; there's a lot of bands which could be put into other places.

Cradle of Filth-Undecided
Fear Factory-Transgression

Jesus Christ, I leave uni, drive for a few hours, come back, and everyone's relapsed into posting like morons again. What is the deal with some of you? Act your God damn age, not your bloody shoe sizes. It's ridiculous to log on to Sputnikmusic and see that very little comments are about the artist or review, and it's a bunch of sophomoric fellating of people or terrible flaming that goes nowhere. I don't understand how difficult it is to act responsibly. I'm not singling out anyone, but since you guys are the regs and obviously give a damn about the site, represent the site as you should. If you think posting like a dicktit is representative of a quality Sputnikmusic member, then you have another thing coming.
In short: I strongly encourage people to re-evaluate their goals and intentions for logging onto Sputnikmusic. Please, if you feel the need to act like children, then you should do the right thing and go outside and play or go running or stretch and get off the Internet. None of the flaming that commences there is remotely funny, and it drags the site down into being a throwback similar to The Pit. Honestly, some reviews have been featured on artists' sites because of the professional degree that these reviews had, and then to read the comments between two people carrying on about how one person is gay for liking this band and the other person saying, "dude ur mom is gay lol," makes me cringe.
Everyone, please. It doesn't take much to control yourselves. Have some restraint, for God's sake and mine.

I was watching/reading something about Tipper Gore's crusade to make CDs with explicit content illegal for people under the age of 18 to buy. Her argument was that children shouldn't be able to purchase albums by bands like Blink182 and 2LiveCru. In retort, the person commentating on her crusade made the good point, "who over the age of 18 listens to Blink182 or 2LiveCru?"
Jom, internet forums are mostly used by people under the age of 18. Of course most people are going to act like retards. And frankly acting like an idiot can be fun sometimes, however, I do agree that the focus should shift away from pats on the shoulder for mediocre reviews and throwing around stupid jokes. I just feel that your expectations are unreasonable considering the demographic you're dealing with.

I've been on mxtabs since I was 13 and musicianforums since I was 15. I'm now 19. The way I treat the website and present myself here has changed drastically since I was first here as has my taste in music, everything really. Nobody holds it against people for being immature. I still am. I bet in 5 years I'll look back at a lot of the things I do now and cringe a little bit. Well, though they're not your "style" of metal they are mind-blowing metal bands that you need to listen to. Maudlin of the Well produced three jazz metal (sort of) albums and then "broke up" but really reformed as Kayo Dot so that they could shed their metal reputation and write songs that are modern classical songs with a heavy metal influence. I just bumped the review I did of Choirs of the Eye. Check it out. IM if you want a sample.

At that site you'll find the full song "Marathon," which unfortunately is one of the weakest two tracks from Choirs of the Eye and a bunch of clips from their new album that I feel, considering most of their songs range from 8-15 minutes long, are insufficient for understanding how the song works as a whole.
Jom, internet forums are mostly used by people under the age of 18. Of course most people are going to act like retards. Sure, understood. However, I don't think it's that much to ask of some users to be just a bit more patient instead of having an itchy "Post Comment" trigger. I'm not saying everyone should post like Zebra ("[This is what I think of the album/artist.] [double space] [This is what I think of the review itself.]", but I do certainly think that some comments, such as the examples you mentioned, could be curbed.
At any rate, I definitely respect your last sentence and work on it, even if I think that there is room for improvement there.

But how can you be pumped about reviewing an album in which you are going to rate it average or below that?
Some people love trashing an album because it sucks. Whenever I write monologues that have a certain edge to them, I can't wait to see the reactions of the audience when I trash people, to see if they agree or not. It makes writing all worthwhile to get any reaction from them, be it surprise or "Hell yeah!" or what have you.

I was really interested in how I personally interpreted the As Cities Burn album because I had such conflicted feeling about the album. After writing how they were like Shai Hulud and how they were like Underoath I came to the realization that I found them mediocre despite their catchiness. I used my confusion about a mediocre/bad album to fuel the writing of the review.
