This message is hidden because Eggo is on your ignore list.
That solves that problem.
Now then,
I tried submitting a band description for Lynyrd Skynyrd the other day on my Iscariot account, but it didn't work. I figured out that I can't submit albums from the band pages because of some dumb glitch, but to my knowledge, there isn't any other option if I want to submit a band bio.
Whenever someone useful gets in here, I could use some help with this.
haha jared you can ignore me but this doesn't change the fact that you whine about being how "poor" you are on the internets yet have clearly spent a significant portion of time on the internets

Before this was established, it was done in the Report Problems thread, which flooded that thread and annoyed the hell out of the staff because the posting is so retarded. Here, it's okay to post like a dumbass because I'll just delete the thread and start over.

While it's true band bios were weird a little bit ago, hopefully this is not because of that aforementioned glitch when it comes to submitting albums.

Whoa how did you find out? I know he's coming to Toronto but I don't know when. Hopefully sometime this summer. And hopefully he hits a few other close Canadian cities (Ottawa, Montreal) and American cities near the border (Detroit, Buffalo etc.) so that I can see him more than once. :D
Through the website of the venue that holds all of the concerts in my town. When Anberlin almost finished their set (after playing a Depeche Mode cover \m/) the frontman went on talking about he found out Morrissey is coming, and how we should all go see him.
Pretty good concert I have to say. I bought a Bleed the Dream shirt that two of the members autographed.
JT was like an android through the whole Hawthorne Heights set. He stood in one spot, and barely ever moved at all.
"Do you want to hear some more songs"? "I guess we'll play some more then". "Yeah, this is fun, I'm starting to sweat". He said all of this while having just about the blankest expression anyone could ever have.

I'm a little lost as to where to put this album (genre-wise). It's all vocal, but not pop. Damn you Josh Groban for making my life hard. :(
Pop or Other, I guess. Just because it's all vocal doesn't immediately disqualify it from being placed in the pop genre.

Yer, I've reviewed about 15 albums in my time on sput. But a few I've never shown anyone, or had deleted off the site. If I wanted to be mysterious, I would say they were too glorious for human eyes to appreciate. If I was being honest, they were pretty crap.

Agreed. I've reviewed my fair share of pop albums, as have many others on the site. Just because there isn't blood-curdling screams or solos or the bands don't sacrifice virgins doesn't make it bad music.

Try searching your university's expansive collection of two Irish history journals for the two Irish history courses which make up your entire history course. They keep telling us there's a huge emphasis on Irish history here, yet I have 8 times as much access to African history resources as I do Irish.

Has anybody else seen the movie Good Night, and Good Luck? It is a George Clooney directed movie released last year. It chronicles the CBS broadcaster Edward R. Murrow combating the anti-commi Joseph McCarthy, who exploited the communism paranoia in America at that time (the 50s). The film was completely black and white, which usually feels cliche to me, but with this film it just suited it perfectly. The music was terrific as well, and suited the movie to perfection. I always thought of George Clooney as a bit of an air-head, but he proved me wrong with this film.
It was nice to see how much the media has 'evolved' since then too, and how the actions of Murrow and crew lead to what we have now.

I wasn't going to be a part of the contest, but the other bassist in the trio couldn't make it because he learned last minute he had to go to a Jew Convention out of state. I've only had two days to learn the piece, but it should be great! :)

In another self-obsessed and self-chronicling sputnik community post from me. I've been exploring what I want to do once I leave school, and after much deliberating I think I've finally come to a decision (likely to change). I know it is early in the school year, but it seems as though everybody already has a good idea, cept for me. At this point in time, I'm really leaning towards taking a gap year overseas. Going off to somewhere like China, Vietnam or Nepal really intrigues me. Or possibly somewhere like America or Europe.
I've been brought up as an reasonably wealthy spoilt only-child who has very little work experience. So I think taking a gap year to gain life experience would benefit me greatly. The whole idea of just launching myself out into the unknown and exploring another part of the world really sounds awesome, although incredibly daunting at the same time.
After that I'm thinking I might take up a career in journalism, whether more TV focused or writing focused I don't know yet. I've always been an excellent public speaker whilst at the same time I've always fancied writing. My subjects at school are leaning towards that sort of a career too, with English, Media Studies, Classics, Economics and Statistics. My other sort of option would be in the Economics line of work, but my spirits don't really jump at the thought of doing that for the rest of my life.
Basically the only thing holding me back from journalism is its a very tough business, and I don't know whether my writing is strong enough. :-/

"A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.
The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.
They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.
"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.
Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.
"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up".
Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.
"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper."

Umm, that's an awkward story.
Anyways, we did pretty good in the trio/ensemble. I don't know if we scored a 1, or a 2, but if it's a 1 then we'll be going to OSU for the State Finals.

Any type of journalism. ^__^

But once again, I just don't know whether I'm a strong enough writer. :-/

I don't know half the artists on half your lists.
This week I had 160 mega plays of DJ Shadow, whilst Dianne Reaves popped in two plays ahead of Duran Duran in 2nd with 47 plays. Duran Duran look set to repeat their strong performance of 45 this upcoming week and are gradually rising in popularity. Whilst The Chemical Brothers made a slight resurgance up into 4th place; this can be attributed to a weak range of only 21 artists for the week, rather than an increase in popularity. Yoko Kanno made her debut in at #5, however already appears to be sliding out of favour.
Look for Tangerine Dream to restate its dominance at the charts next week with a strong rise. Experts are also predicting a further increase in the total tracks played for the week, somewhere in the region of 375-450 plays.

Great album, better rapper.
Just saw this:
Nothing neccesarily, but I'd just love to read a review of them by you. :)
Ah, okay.
But again, I don't see the point in writing a review for an album that already has solid reviews for it.
There are just some reviews on the site that do not warrant a second review. For example, the Deltron 3030 review is a classic review for the site - if anyone writes a review for it, it won't matter how well-written it is, it will pale in comparison to Crumb's. Same thing applies for a lot of reviews on the site, actually... Med's Pink Floyd and The Downward Spiral reviews come to mind as well.
If I have something new to bring to the table, I'll write a review. But if I just flat-out agree with the user or the review is well-written, I don't see a point.
And people can crab all they want about how Sputnikmusic was made for multiple reviews, but that's just a weak argument. Yes, it was made for multiple review... of differing perspectives and opinions, for the most part.
What's the point in reading two reviews that are similar (same grade, comments, interpretations, etc.)?
Right, I didn't think so, either.
