Hey guys. Just checking in to thank Med, Moz, and Spat Out for the little pep talk they gave me last week about writing reviews for myself and the music and forgetting the rest, like how many people will read it and petty criticisms. It was really motivational. I just completed my latest review and am so happy with it I'm just, well, happy. I feel a great deal of satisfaction. So thanks a lot guys. This is starting to be fun. As it should be, I guess. And it's getting easier. And the less I have to work, the better. :p
So thanks guys. And see you around the boards...

I like contempary orcehstral music best. Quincy Jone's Austin Powers song (can't remeber real name) is fantastic if you hear the full thing. And the piano solo is just incredible.

I confess I know nothing about classical music, I just like the more melodic stuff. Composer doesn't matter, time period doesn't matter, country doesn't matter. If I had to pick a favourite piece it would probably be Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" or Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring". But I am very unsophisticated in my knowledge of classic music, I sorely confess.

I believe it is called "Soul Bossa Nova" or something. It has Bossa Nova in the title, I'm pretty sure. And yes, it is a great track.
I don't like a lot of modern orchestral music because I find it to be less melodic and more focused on bombast or experimentation, but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places.

The reason why I'm wondering is because I always post my charts in my journal and then proceed to write about how I'm misunderstood in a world of negatives and how I'll never find happiness and how I don't know if people are holding on to what they've got and I'm so tired and I'll be holding on to this sweet love and I feel walls and then proceed to write terrible poetry.

Yeah, Rosenrot. After hearing Amerika, I kind of got put off from checking out Reise Reise, so I have no idea what its like compared with Reise, Reise.

Nope, and if I judged bands purely bases on their band names, I don't think I'd like them.
Weird, I was just looking at allmusic and their review for Kenny G. - Breathless said stuff like this:
Whether you're into pop or jazz, Breathless is unlistenable. And Breathless isn't bad because it's a pop album or because it's commercial; it's bad because of its complete lack of soul, substance or creativity.
And yet they gave it a ranking of four stars. :-/

If and when you get some free reading time, I highly recommend reading Douglas Adams' Salmon of Doubt. I think you would absolutely love it:
"The moon is much larger than it appears to be. This is worth remembering because next time you are looking at the moon you can say in a deep and mysterious voice, 'The moon is much larger than it appears to be,' and people will know that you are a wise person who has thought about this a lot."

Do you mean as opposed to the British pronunciation of garage? I can't type it out, but yeah I pronounce it like the French word with an anglophone accent, if that makes any sense. And Nirv-ah-na as opposed to what, Nir-vannnn-ah? I think I'm guilty of both your pronunciations, but it's hard to understand exactly what people are getting at through text. Are you kidding? They all repeatedly made jokes about how Canadians always said Nirvahna (as in cat); Dave Grohl even said, "this is nothing against Canada, but it's Nirvawna, not Nirvahna." That's really all the proof I need.
Plus in the In Bloom video they made the TV host say "Nirvahna" that seems like some sort of metaphor for how they were misperceived in the media. If that video is where you got that idea then yr. wrong.

If that video is where you got that idea then yr. wrong.

Agreed. But you get usually more fries if you get the regular kind. They line up and don't go in there all in a wad, so there is less empty space in the carton, meaning more potato for your money. It pisses me off that they got rid of the onion petals, though, as the southwest sauce went away along with them.

Where are you at? I live in Ontario and they have Lifeblood in pretty much every shop, and Everything Must Go was easy to find the first time I looked for it, I bought it then and haven't really been keeping track of its stock since. The Holy Bible original version (not the deluxe) has been next to impossible to find. I'm stuck with a downloaded version but I really want to buy it.

Why would you buy the original version and not the expanded one?

It costs too much. Roughly $45 CAD is more than twice a normal album price, screw that.

I live in Saskatoon (but born and raised in the mean streets of Toronto ). Lifeblood is easy to find here, as is their Greatest Hits. I've never seen an original Holy Bible, I got the pimpin' edition. As for everything else Manics, it's been nearly impossible to find. But yeah, Toronto has some great places to find CDs.
Oh, and the Holy Bible special ed. only cost me 26.99

Fanboyism, something all of us suffer from at one time or another. ;)
:( I never got the deluxe version of Good Apollo.

*It's good until they zoom up on richey being a retard and pretending to rawk out on the guitar.

They don't sound very good live on that dvd, and Richey strums the same on every song. But it's still fun to watch, with all their Welsh shenanigans.

So I just came back from one of our best gigs. Ever.
The club was completely filled, the band we played with were really nice folks. The sound engineer knew his job, my new 4x10 performed well. :thumb:
And I had a premier: Within my 3 years I now play bass, for the first time ever one of my strings broke. The B-string on my 5-string Corvette. I was happy it was on our last two songs. Otherwise, I would have been screwed :)
Overall, excellent evening :thumb:

Glad to see it went well, even with the string breakage.

I'm seriously thinking about persuing a career in sound engineering. The only college in the state that offers it is MTSU, though. A little out of my range, unless I can stop being a slacker and get a free ride.

I heard about that but whaddya know I never did anything about it. That two-parter with the Cork fag was pretty good though.
