Jesus. Can any of you actually back up your hatred here?

I personally don't care for Graves' politics, but his music is great. I still haven't picked up this new album though. I'm trying to track down the Gotham Road EP.

His solo work incorporates more of the 50's rock influence. I'd upload a couple songs, but you know how the rules are about YSI now.

i actually prefer graves era misfits songs to danzig era misfits songs in many ways....

more variety, more interesting styles, just generally more challenging...
sure there's some classic danzig era songs...horror business, hybrid moments, some kinda hate, cough cool, attitude, etc etc. but you have to admit there's an AWFUL lot of boringly primitive filler in those early records. i like simplicity, but ultimately there's a line between simplicity and dullness which danzig era misfits occasionally fall short of.

i wouldn't neccessarily say graves's voice is better then danzigs though, or that his lyrics are better. in my opinion they are both equally effective in different ways. its hard to imagine Danzig being able to write and sing tunes like Dig Up Your Bones, Saturday Night, Shining and Scream though....

midn you, both of them still way better than jerry! :P

i love the old misfits but the newfits are just too over done. They sounded so much better on their crappy record label

exactly.

The other thing that bugs me about The Misfits is all the merchandise that aren't that necessary to have "The Misfits" or the fiend printed on them.

I mean come on, it is whoring the whold band up. Perfect example for this, is a kid who worshippd [B]f/B]ucking Billy Joe Armstrong a couple months ago finally realized Greenday is just plain old garbage. Then the kid found some gateway bands that are pretty decent, then he heard some Misfits material. Now the kid has Misfits Hats Shoelaces, Stickers, Patches, Hoodies Guitar Strings, etc. I'm not going to be surprised if his underwear drawer has a ton of Misfits boxers.

While I'll agree that some of the merchandise is gratuitous, I think people are being too heavily purist here. Let me tell you a little story.

There was an artist who was struggling from day to day. He and his wife were both working frustrating day jobs to make ends meet, and the artist really wanted to do comics. That was his passion. He decided to try and build up a rep by buying a domain name on the 'net and turning out a semi-daily comic strip targeted to a very specific market: game geeks.

That was way back in 1998. Today, his comic is exceptionally popular and by retaining the rights to it, he has been able to quit his job and work on his art full time because he was able to market it. T-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, mouse pads, keychains, and even a throw.

The artist is Scott Kurtz and his comic is PvP. This is a true story.

If a band can market themselves really well, good on them. As long as the quality of the music doesn't decline, it's all good. While I personally didn't care all that much for Project 1950, I really liked the Graves era. It's still good music.

People really need to get off their high horses and just take music for what it is.

On a side note, though I don't care as much for American Idiot, I do like most of Green Day's work, so I'd appreciate you not bashing them in my presence like every other "rebel" who equates success with impurity (or whatever the hell you people want to call it).

I much prefered the Graves era to the Danzig to be honest. I always thought his voice fit the music better. I'm not going to say I don't like Danzig as they have plenty of classic songs, but they don't do it for me like Graves' stuff. To quote Steerpike;

I personally don't care for Graves' politics, but his music is great. .

Agreed.

Is it solo or with a new band?
