I play mostly jazz, blues, and rock so I would like a guitar that can fit those genres well.
My budget is at 600$ max so anything under that would be great.
Thanks guys.

speaking of strats would they be good for metal? or should i get an ibanez/ESP?
You'd be best with an Ibanez or ESP.

Gibson Les Paul, usually $600 plus, if it comes out to too much go for the Epiphone Les Paul, same basic design just cheaper electronics, maybe $300-$400, i think. Those guitars are very versatile for blues and rock styles. Eventually, you might wanna spring for some Dimarzio or Duncan pickups, but for now, the Les Paul's are a good choice.

Sounds like a personal problem.
Go to sam ash or your local guitar store and try out different models. Thats the only way to get your answer. IMO.

You'll be amazed at what you find yourself liking if you try stuff out. I was at GC today and I found myself liking things I never thought I'd like.

Well, I took your guys advice today and I went to my local guitar shop and played a lot of guitars.
Tried the Les Pauls, strats, teles, but I found the one I really liked was Schechter Diamons Series C-1+ guitar.
I'm gonna sleep on it, but I think thats the one I'm gonna buy and at ~$556, its cheep than the LP custom too.

The next time you find a real Gibson LP for under 600 let me know cuz i will buy like 5, then sell them for a profit.... used they go for around $800 from what I have seen on ebay.

Don't sleep on it foo... go out and but that C-1+.... it's what I got... the next guitar I am gonna get is the Schecter Elite or classic. The only thing you will end up not liking about the C-1+ is that the pickups aren't perfect and it is not coil-tapped like the Elite or classic. The Classic would be perfect cuz the pickups are SD's and you they would be great for your style.
