Although the game looks to be quite good, except for the soundtrack. Come on folks, THPSs II, III, and Underground 1 all had amazing soundtracks, and I, IV, and Underground 2's were passable. But this one is just straight butt from what I've seen.

I think it looks cool. Sure, unrealistic, but since when are video games supposed to always be uber-realistic? I like the approach the new Tony Hawk games have taken.

The only thing I don't like is the soundtrack.

I've disliked the Tony Hawk's games ever since Tony Hawk's 3 came out. For me it has been going downhill from there, with 1 and 2 being the only really good ones. I know I won't be buying this latest Tony Hawk game.

Looking at the soundtrack it's not as bad as I had thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be all covers of great songs by newer shitty bands. Taking those off the list it's decent enough. I'll rent first though.

Edit: Starting from Dead Kennedy's and going down it's not bad. I'll just have to turn off the first 1/3rd of the music.

Edit #2: Nevermind, there's only roughly 15 songs or so I'd listen to on there. And that's stretching it. I'll just listen to my own CD and turn the music volume of the game off.

You ever play Dave Mirra? Pretty much the worst game ever. Mixing skateboarding with the bmx element may be Neversoft's method of making the game seem more fresh. It probably won't work.

Rented the PS2 version today, it gets;

6/10 so far. It's worth the rental, but not buying. THPS4 was the top of the series as far as I'm concerned, and THUG1 was pretty dam good as well, but it's gone downhill from there.

Yea. I beat hard mode in an hour. It only took that long cuz I had to go eat supper in the middle of it.

I do like the concept though. Rather than it being like PacMan or Mario and once you complete one level, your taken to the next, you can now do it like Zelda or Final Fantasy and go to each level as you please without having to load. Instead you skate to each level.

The story didn't really make sense though. I mean, what was the real objective in the first place?

It's like, your some country dude who moves to LA, you meet this girl Mindy who helps you styleize yourself or whatever, and for some reason you have to go to Beverlye Hills. I don't even know why you have to. You meet these three skaters who take you to the skate ranch in BH, you meet this Pro named Iggy and he wants you to prove yourself. So you skate and all that and learn these new moves. You go to downtown LA and learn these new skate moves from some chinese dude so you can enter a contest. When you win it, your skater tells Tony Hawk that Iggy taught you his moves, and then word spreads that Iggy is alive, sense everyone thought of him dead. He is found and arrested (apparently he was hiding out or something) and for some reason you are told by Alva about the Green pipes and you try to dig it up or whatever. WHY DO YOU GO TO FIND ALVA, AND WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO DID UP SOME STUPID SKATE POOL? How does that help anything? The whole storyline just confused me.

I read somewhere that its just a city that you skate around, no story mode, no other levels and no major missions. Is this true? If so, then that sucks.

no chance, ive played tony hawk games since the first one and i love all of them, even thug1 which was a slight downer but thug2 was awesome, i expect i will love this one too, its the best series in videogames, including mgs and halo imo.
