um lets see... i could explain but there isnt enough room here lol... ill give ya a basic intro, a combo amp is a normal amp that you can put a big speaker cabinet(cab) under for more sound.. tubes are expensive, but give a nice warm sound with added volume. a half stack is a guitar head (the kinda flat thing on top of speaker cabs) with the knobs on it, its where the power comes from, on a half stack it plugs into 1 cab for sound, on a full stack there is 2 cabs hooked up to it... i hope that helps a little bit...

yeah that does help, thanks. Could you plug even more cabs into a stack for even more power?

The cabs are just a box with speakers in them. The actual power comes from the amp head that is sitting on top of them.

R u sure? I'm pretty certain that u get headunits - the smallish boxes with all the settings on, Cabs - boxes with speakers in, and Combos - which r smallish units that combine the two in one compact box, as in practice amps.
A half stack is a headunit attached to one cab, and a full stack with two cabs connected.
It doesn't get much more powerful that, if u do need bigger, as in playing a largeish gig, ull mic up ur amp and play with the PA system in the venue.

Also there are two types of amp, solid state and tube. Tubes are louder and have a totally different tone to solid states, whcih use processers and stuff, whereas a tube amp is older technology use valves and tubes (no ****).

I think ur best bet would be to go into a local guitar shop that sells what ur looking for they will prolly have the most knowledge as to what u need and can physically show some setups and give u prices

It really depends on the model. Marshall make some good amps and some bad amps.
Similar thing with Roland.
Generally you've just got to believe in the sayign that you get what you pay for.

Depends what kind of show, if you are playing a small gig at a bar then you could get by using a 50 watt amp fairly easily.

If you were playing in a stadium then you would have like 4 150watt cabinets hooked up to a PA system.
