Behringers arent necessarily bad, just rather incosistant. Mr_soup and I have had one for over a year and its been fine(he gigs with his) wheras a buddy of mine's behringer just died week before last.
I cant really vouch for DOuglas's quality, but you cant really go wrong with the price...

Hmm, i see you're from australia. Tough one there. Its hard to find a good solid powerful combo for under $300 AUD.
E-mail the bass centre in melbourne and see what they come up with.

If you can find a Peavey, that is a good, solid, dependable amp.

I played all over the world with an old Mark series Peavey. Stage managers were always glad to see it and airport luggage handlers couldn't destroy it ....although they of course tried.
Good, vastly underated stuff.

You keep making the same post about what cheap amp to get. Take the advice that was given already. If you want a cheap amp, go with a Ashdown or Hartke. Both come in combos and cabs/heads. Both are good brands.

i got a bx1200 yesterday, love the tone after a bit of the 'shape' function is added, sounds smoother than my mates valve amp.
Although, they can be rather inconsistent, apparantly.
Well, i like them

I don't even like the shape function on my BX1200. It's completely useless to me, as is the second channel, and the ultrabass.

I just played my ass off for years.....worked hard , got a primo house-band gig in Hotlanta where I met a lot of different people.A lot of these acts would ask me and my bandmates when we were going to go on the road with them.
When my first marriage failed I took the vocal group The Platters up on the offer. They were based in Vegas but traveled virtually year round.
I spent five and a half years as bassist and road manager with them during which time I circled the globe several times.
Didn't get rich ...except in unforgettable experiences and life-long friendships.

Indeed, they're no secret around here, most know about them. Thank you though. Please, if you're going to bump an old thread make sure it's an official one or you can resolve the problem.
