Eh, this is an old recording from like January, and the solo itself sucks, but listen to the tom tones.

Click on Drum Solo 1.

(fyi FOllow You is not on my drums, so don't listen to that for my drum tone)

Hmm... I guess I will be buying me some Emperors and Ambs...

Is there a difference between clear and coated emps?

That solo does kinda suck in btw....

Seafroggys

Haha, I assure you i've worked on my soloing skills in the past 9 months.

Anyway, the clear will be more open and have more stick slap, where the coated will be more focused and warmer.

Hey it doesnt suck that much.... I wouldnt be able to do a better one... that I can tell you...

Coated emps over clear ambs will give you that exact sound. I've had that combo for a long time and i've always been a fan.

^^^

You have read that I can only get Remo heads, yes?...

---------

Ive seen smooth white before... but uhh...

I never knew the qualities of a smooth white ...

Seafroggys

Smooth white and ebony is between clear and coated on the tonal spectrum. Smooth whites also show little wear, and seeing as how coating is known to blacken and chip away after awhile (moreso on Remo) I plan on getting smooth white emperors as opposed to coated.

Coated emps over clear ambs.

That would be my choice for that sound described.

Nah man. I had one but my computer crashed and I lost everything I had. But my band is playing a show this coming saturday and I might have clips then.

It sounds really good though.

Hows the coated emp over coated amb?

Didnt Bonham use that combo?

Splinter364

Anyone?

Coated Remo Emps's for a batter then use clear Amb's for the reso side. Thats one sweet sounding studio quality match up.

Splinter364
11-14-2005, 07:37 PM
We all know.

Im asking about coated emp/coated amb

crolfe1
11-14-2005, 07:40 PM
^^^ To me that combination would sound a little to dead. The coating kills a small bit of resonance, which is great for the batter. But for the resonant side head, the drum would really have a muted ring. That resonant head is now a somewhat-resonant head...
