I know because you didnt say that, and anyone with devolped melodic recognition would make an excuse for using such blasphemous sheet metal cymbals. I also know this because you are using stock heads. Whats wrong with stock heads? PLENTY of things. but at the top of the list is

1. They are crap.

Pry next on the list would be

2.They SOUND like crap

3.Those drums are NOT crap. Those heads SUCK.

Its like smearing feces all over natalie portman..... its only fun if you dont tell anyone about it.

K, im finished being a ***** its to tireing. And sorry about the aarogant post above. Mostly, other drummers feel that one is "privilaged" with better kits as skill increases, like somthing you work up to. I wouldnt feel privialged enough to own that kit at my current skill. (I still would id just feel guilty)

But yea. Go buy this:

Evans clear g2's over g1's for the toms. An emad or eq3 or superkick for the bass. Everybody likes a differnt snare head so experiment with that. Youll love the way your set will sound with tuning and those heads!

What kinda hats are you looking into?

I'd say just ignore all the flaming and stuff.

That's one damn sexy looking kit.

I totally understand you have cheap hats and stock heads when you have such expensive drums....I had to use stock heads when I first got my new set because ALL of my money went into the new drums.

Anyway, once again, awesome set.

CombatWombat3
10-16-2005, 08:19 PM
My god guys, lay off! All of you are acting like complete jackasses! Even if this is his first set, which I highly doubt it is, that's no reason to hate him in the slightest! I'm sure every one of you would have loved to start on a DW, and if this is his first kit, be happy for him that he can start on such a nice kit. There's no reason to be flaming him for that.

About the stock heads and ZBT hats, he knows he needs them replaced, and I'm sure he is getting around to it. But to some people, drums aren't everything in the world. Maybe he spent all his money buying those drums and didnt have enough to replace the hats and heads.

Anyway, I'm digging the finish. One thing I wou;d suggest is to try moving all your toms to the left one position, you might find it more comfortable. So that measn you would hav a 10" and a 12" mounted over your bass drum, and a 14" floor tom. Just a suggestion, nice setup otherwise!

(Sorry for the explosion, it just really bothers me when people flame others for no reason)

i cant do that because of the way they need to be mounted, it might be possible, but at a risk to the drums, or the purchase of a rack which is very far from priority

holy crap some people are real @ssholes (not pointing fingers) and are most definitely JEALOUS, for christ's sake... Don't let em get to ya man. I'm digging that red for sure , especially the satin (is it satin finish right?)

The fact he has stock heads and a lower end cymbal or two is totally understandable when you look at the kit...i mean fuk, give him a chance to pay it off then work on getting new heads and stuff, heads aren't exactly cheap when you got a 6 piece and want to swap batters & resos all 'round.

Did you ever think that after paying that much for the kit alone that he wouldnt have enough money for a whole new set of heads? or new hats? Stock head get you by until you can afford new ones. AND WHO REALLY CARES IF HE "DESERVES" the kit, whether he paid for it or got it as a gift doesnt matter its his and not yours. As long as you know that you are a good player who cares if someone has better **** than you. Its the player that matters, I know some guys who can play on a really shiity *** kit, tune it up and sound incredible on it. Nice by the way.

Because your practice kit is what you get good on. My uncle has a 5,000 dollar custom kit that he uses EXCLUSIVLY for practice. It really doesnt make much sense to get some so expensive and gig with it to get it a messed up and battered from transporting it so often. Well I'm going to be one of the few to congratulate you. I have a cheaper Pacific kit.

When I was younger, my parents helped me pay for things a little, but I always had to carry the bulk. It really helped me appreciate where money came from. ex: my bass. It was $600. Parents had me earn 75% and they covered the other $150. After all the lawns I had to mow, garbage cans delivered (don't ask), and firewood split, let me tell you I had a great appreciation for where that $150 came from, and 5 years later I still do. (Of course I've been working for my own stuff since I could get out there)

I must agree with Sponer. My kit has black hardware but I just think on a DW kit with those style lugs it just makes it look a bit cheap and toy-like.

Its Pretty nice, but I'm not a fan of the circular lugs, but other than that I really like it, good job
