From my county, I'd say Muse. I can't think of too many bands who've come out of Devon.

EDIT: If you meant bands who are around now, then Radiohead are probably my favourite home-country band.

[...]Death Cab For Cutie [...] Massachusetts.

Death Cab, from Massachusetts? I think you're mistaken, writer friend. Pixies, yes. Death Cab, no. MA isn't WA.

Not much good has come out of Pennsylvania. Edgewise, maybe? For such a big state, we don't have much going for us. Even Montana has The Decemberists. Jesus, folks. RollerQueen has to change that.

Gainesville alone owns most other states.

Missouri - Uncle Tupelo/Wilco, the Get Up Kids, the Gadjits, Nelly

Technically, the 'Kids were from Lawrence, KS, but they're always spoken of as a Kansas City band, which is in MO. And I'm not %100 about Wilco, I think they may be a little more Chicago-based, but Uncle Tupelo is definitely STL, so that should trickle down to Wilco.

Even Montana has The Decemberists.Hmmm... I have to disagree. Meloy might be from MT, but I think my lovely state has dibs on the band as a whole. In addition, I'm going to pimp Elliott Smith (and Heatmiser), Quasi, Dolorean, The Dandy Warhols, Menomena, and I'm also going to claim the Shins, even though NM probably has the best claim to them as a band. We may not be Seattle, but Oregon (mainly Portland) puts out some good music.

Rock it Oregon!

PS
Since he's reportedly living in Oregon now, I'm also claiming Frank Black. We also have Floater and Everclear, although I'm not much into either band's music.

Well there are too many too mention from my country (England) but there are a few good localish acts that came from my area..

Hard Fi came from staines which is like half an hour away from where I live.
David essex came from around where I live.

and the two BEST people that lived in my town are:

Eric Clapton (who went to my school)
and Brian May.
