Right, i searched and couldn't find any threads on Senses Fail, so i thought i'd make one. This is probably the only really clichéd Pop-Punk pretending to be Emo band i like, and i'm not even sure why. I really like the guitar parts though, and some of the screaming is excellenty done.

Faverouite songs :

NJ Falls Into The Atlantic
Rum Is For Drinking, Not For Burning
Bloody Romance
Free Fall Without A Parachute
The Irony Of Dying On Your Birthday

Go!

Awesome band. I pretty much like all of their songs, but my favorites are "Free Fall Without A Parachute", and "Lady in the Blue Dress".

Sweet live, too.

I like them a lot. I used to think they would suck but I listened to them after a while and got in to them pretty quick. I must say Dan's (Raiven) avatar does amuse me though.

Ha, i'm suprised i didn't get banned for my complaints thread.

The thing that suprises me is how well they can play their instruments. The drummer is incredible.

i think senses fail is overrated, mainly due to the fact that their full length was less than decent. they put out a great EP though. their full length sounds too samey

One of my first fav bands. Started listening to them right before the ep came out. I think their drummer is the most talented in the group- i dont find thier guitar parts that hard. however, Their music isnt for that, i like it for the overall sound/feel of the song. I wish they had some more acoustic stuff.

The dude is still in highschool, I think. Before their Full-Length came out at least, they were touring with a tutor for him.

I like the whole EP, Lady in the Blue Dress (The verse is nice and groovy), and Bite To Break Skin.

Other than that, I'm in to them. Decent band, I suppose, and I like Buddy's style.

I don't know if any of you play guitar, but all of their songs have the same riff. Its the same chords as the prechorus to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous by Good Charlotte, or Everlong by Foo Fighters. They just speed them up, or slow them down in places, but you can sing all of their songs to 1 of their riffs, which personally really annoys me. And Buddy can't sing live to save himself, every note was flat. I still listen to them though, on a rare occasion.

I have been a fan of Senses Fail for a while now.
I thought the EP was amazing, and the LP amazing as well.
But this new stuff, American Death and Institutionalized...
These songs just don't sound like the Senses Fail I love.
It's totally different in fact. Buddy Neilson is way better than this stuff.
I'm afraid of where Senses Fail seems to be going now.

I thought their EP had some really good stuff on it, but the LP sucked except angela baker, let it enfold you, and let it enfold you. The 'I HATE THE PAIN' part in asngela baker gives me goosebumps. But yeah, their lyrics are pretty lame, but thats the reason nobody wants to say they like them. And my sister said she's seen them live like, 15 times because they always wind up in pittsburgh. The LP has tons of amazing songs.
And Senses Fail are not a guilty pleasure for me.
I always tell people they are my favourite band tied with UnderOath.
I don't see how you can say their lyrics are bad, Buddy Neilson is a great songwriter.
And SicTranisGloria, I think you are talking about the lyrics off of that new Institutionalized song. But that song is not written by them. It is only a cover song (fortunately).
Yeah, the lyrics in that song are pretty gay.
"ALL I WANTED WAS ONE ****ING PEPSI! AND SHE WOULDNT GIVE IT TO ME!"
But this American Death song, it's just totally different.
Like it's almost mainstream rock.

I've seen them twice...once during the Taste Of Chaos Tour in Louisville with Blame It On Rio, A Change Of Pace and Emanuel..and again at Warped Tour in Cinci...both were great shows..

Personally LIEY is one of my favorite cd's in my collection; I can listen to it all the way through and never get bored. The EP is great but it isn't as good as the LP in my opinion but I got both CD's at the same time.

Senses Fail is awesome, but the new "Deluxe" edition of LIEY was a major let down. The acoustics are nothing special and the I have the Tony Hawk American Wasteland CD so the song "Institutionalized" didn't benefit me at all. I have also seen the videos numerous times and you can watch them on sensesfail.com so that also was a useless "bonus". The concert footage is alright but nothing special...

The new song "American Death" is also crap in my opinion. I hope the next CD doesnt include complete and underless garbage like that. When I think of Senses Fail I think of catchy riffs, catchy chorus' and occasional, perfectly placed screams. American Death is the complete opposite and Buddy is trying to do something which he isn't great at already...screaming...
It may be fun for the live shows to show everyone how much he's getting into it but no one wants to listen to it constantly on a CD...

So unless you dont have a copy of LIEY already, then don't waste your money buying the "deluxe" version.

DepthsOfDreams555
11-09-2005, 05:44 AM
What did you think it was going to have pal? It's just a 'deluxe' edition re-release its not going to have a bunch of new material. I thought the acoustics were very nicely done. I think American Death is a very good song and Institutionalized is on the THAW soundtrack but why shouldn't they put that song on a CD they are releasing? I mean you can't expect an entire new CD out of them. I just can't wait for their new CD.

I'm not trying to be an *** here, but i can't stand them.. The lyrics are awful, the vocal is whiny, and he couldn't sing live...

If you don't like them thats fine, just don't come in here everyonce in a while to flame them. Then you will be an ***. :)

I love the vocalist scream, to me it just sounds so awesome. Not just the screaming either, I love the sound of his voice.

All I do is listen to LIEY nowadays, I haven't listened to the EP in a couple years, I will give that a try soon.

SF is slowly becoming my favorite band...

The new Senses Fail songs = win

This album is probably going to be their best material, new guitarist is brilliant at harmonising Buddy (didnt know that was possible).

Check out the news instead that I posted on them. ;)

"Let It Enfold You" is a great album, so great in fact that I forgive the band for making one of the worst EPs of all time.

edit: BTW, I've seen them live and I think they're actually quite good.

The new album is going to be rad. I wonder what the lyrics will be about...oh wait, I forgot Buddy is apparently obsessed with death. :\

his lyrics this time are way diffrent, in a good way, their about his personal life and what hes gone through the past year and a half. the new cd comes out tomorrow, ive already heard it, and its amazing. defnitely their best work to date.

the new album is better in terms of musicianmanship and lyrically. but istill think their best songs are on let it enfold you. i havent heard anything better than rum is for drinking, buried a lie, lady in the blue dress etc.
