oh baby

i dont know that 18 is kinda funky. I like the 17 crash and the 12 in splash. I like the 18 china better than the 16. Thats all that i listened to. Sounds like a nice set, maybe ill get a crash or two.

Sounds awesome man. Definitely a unique sound. I personally would use em as effect cymbals, not sure if I'd want them all as just my regular cymbals.

Double Bass Jim
10-07-2005, 06:55 PM
Yea the 18" crash sounds HUGE, the thing has tons and tons of sustain and overtone, it's a little higher in pitch then the 17"! Gotta love the nuance of hand made cymbals.

OK, here's my take: I love the long decay on the 17 & 18 crashes. I really like the 12 & 10 splashes, but not the 8. The only china I liked was the 18; nice & full trashy sound. The other chinas are too clangy for me. I still don't like my 12" china (although I have incorporated it into my setup again).

I'm still looking forward to hearing the ride when you get it!

Edit: 1,000th post! Woo Hoo!

Awsome man. They all sounded pretty good. I really liked the 17" crash, the 18" sounded way to huge and wasn't my fav but pretty cool non the less. The 12" splash was awsome, the 10" was not my favourite and the 8" was ok. I only really liked the 18" china it had a really full trashy sound while the others sounded to clangy.

Now that i have an idea of what they sound like, i think i might order some. Right now you can get a 16" and an 18" S crash set plus an 18" china for $100. Is that a good deal for wuhans?

that 17" crash especially got my attention! It sounded sweet, also the 18" was nice, it sounded huge though. I didn't like the chinas at all! They all sounded clangy! I'mgonna go with a zildjian Oriental 16", now that is a sweet sounding china!:thumb:

Wow that 17" Crash sounds so much like a Stage HHX. The 18" doesn't sound so hot though. Awesome clips Jim, I can't wait for the Trad clips to come!

Double Bass Jim
10-08-2005, 04:18 PM
Yea the 18" is wierd, it's got a much heavier thicker sustain then the 17".

Plan B.
10-08-2005, 04:42 PM
That's exactly like my two A Custom Projections. The 18 seems so strange and not as responsive. When you compare the two, you can clearly see the 18 has a much higher bell and profile than the 17. Doesn't make sense to me why Zildjian would do that though.

Ive been looking into getting 2-3 more chinas (mmmm china) and mabye 2 splashs. Right now all i have is a K minichina thats not really mine, so you would sugesst the wuhans as a wise, trashy, choice DBJ? I was kinda split between them and a oriental trash zildjian china.

Double Bass Jim
10-08-2005, 04:51 PM
Yea it doesnt bother me though, I dig the nuance and difference between the two. Hopefully the trads will be just as good.

Deffinetly man, their fast and very trashy.

On the clips here im not really laying into them, if you really crash em they explode with attack, great chinas. And they sound good played soft as well.

Hey.

I'm new to the forums, and couldn't find a way to PM you, so I'm just going to ask here.

I've got a 4 piece Slingerland set ('73) with some really nice Zildjian cymbals. (all of them as old as the set) But I'm wanting to expand some more. A secondary ride, maybe a splash or a 14 inch crash, and possibly new hihats (12 inch).

I don't want anything too heavy, just some nice cymbals.

I'm 13, so I'm very limited on cash, and Wuhan has always appealed to me. And living in Indaiana, where the only play to see cymbals is the GuitarCenter, I'm not entirely sure. All they've got there is a 12 inch china and an 18 inch china.

What do you reccomend?
