Fat Mike is enjoying fatherhood right now. I last heard a new album would be made next year so I would expect them to tour then. They play some random festivals now and again though.

I'm sure he's allowed to hate them just as much as you like them. There's no point having threads if all we do is lick a band's collective arsehole.

NOFX are alright. They seem to be a pretty good introductory band, judging by the number of people who say they were the first punk band the listened to. I don't like NOFX's music a whole bunch, but Fat Mike is one of my idol/role models. Start a punk band, make enough money to start a record label, sign hundreds of punk bands. He's a legend. (That post is serious, by the way, I'm not being sarcastic) (crap, saying I'm not being sarcastic sounds even more sarcastic).

This is bullsh*t. I have been waiting for NOFX to come to Australia since they came in 2002 (to the f*cking Big Day Out where bands get 50 minutes tops), and they said they were coming in 2004... Yeah, I'll wait for that one you bastards. Sorry, I didn't mean that. JUST COME TO AUSTRALIA ALREADY. FOR F*CK'S SAKE.

Give me a beer, give me a water.

I had a dream I met Fat Mike last night. Very good dream. I asked him when they were playing in Australia next, and he wouldn't tell me, then I asked him if they would play The Decline (the whole thing) when they do, and he said it's too long. I think I asked him how to play some bass part but I can't remember which one or if he showed me. Great dream.

I can play the whole thing on bass without any of those effects. (Or is that FX?) Yeah it's 18 minutes, but they play for 3, 4, 5 even 6 times longer than that at most shows. The hardest part is remembering 18 minutes of song that doesn't really repeat itself or have a chorus! Cool bass parts though.

From punknews:

AltPress.com is reporting that SoCal skatepunk veterans NOFX have announced a wealth of details on their forthcoming album, Wolves in Wolves' Clothing.

The band will wrap up work on the album, slated for release in April 2006, next week. The disc is set to span 18 songs and 30 minutes, and will contain four songs from the band's recent 7" of the Month Club series, with three in re-recorded form: "Leaving Jesusland," "I'm Going to Hell for This One," "You're Wrong" and "You Lose Your Faith." Several other songs set to appear include "USA-holes" and the working-titled "Harpo, Groucho and Karl," the latter of which Fat Mike describes as "a hip-hop beat with ska/new-wave guitar and a Beatles melody."

In addition, the band has announced that they will embark on a headlining tour in February/March 2006 with label-mates the Lawrence Arms and the Loved Ones. Dates should be announced shortly.

WT,TH,AAB was the first punk album I ever got. I have grown out of them since, kinda too poppy for me now, but i will give them a listen every once in a while. Unfortunently when I saw them at Warped '04 they were the worst band I saw. Timing was **** and the guitars sounded pretty bad. I would still go to see them again tho...

When you say they sucked, do you mean the music? I've heard they're hilarious during they're shows. I probably wouldn't even pay attention to the music ;)

I've always wanted to see them live because of their humor.

Lately the bands that try to be funny I end up hated, NOFX was one of the few that really got me laughing. They're poets...in a very very strange way.

I don't think it'll be their last... Does anyone know if the songs from the 7" of the month club will be on the album?.. That would be really dissapointing. :upset:

i have heard the album is 30 mins long and has like 17/18 songs on it and about 7 of those are 7" of the month tracks including leaving jesus land, you're wrong and a few others, not sure if its confirmed though

I remember reading something about El Hefe's past as a guitar player, but I seem to have forgotten.

Why do I think he used to e a blues/jazz player?
He was.

Listen to their cover/parody of 'Straight Edge.' He's got a badass jazz solo in it.

im getting into nofx, so..what do u recommend of their albums to start with?
Well, So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes probably impressed me the most when I got it. I absolutely loved it, still do really. Heavy Petting Zoo if you like the poppier, slowier stuff - still good though!

Punk In Drublic is a very strong album too. Probably get that first up I guess.

The entire band is overrated, musically. Fat Mike plays some cool bass lines, smelly is one of the coolest drummers around. He's incredibly tight. Melvin kind of sucks, but hefe's incredible, esp with the trumpet.

I said the timing and guitars were bad..... And they were not funny AT ALL! It was so fkin cheesy. They kept saying we love this city for 25 min. Then at the end they were like, what city is this?.... it was lame.

They are the last of my favourite bands that I haven't seen live (well, save for Rage Against The Machine, of course). I MUST see them soon! And I really hope they don't play the Big Day Out again, 55 minute sets do not do justice to such a great band!

Couldn't agree more. 2003 was the only year worth going, and the only year I've been. Foo Fighters, Frenzal Rhomb, The Living End and Millencolin. On top of that, Queens of the Stone Age, Jimmy Eat World, Jebediah, The Music, and others I've forgotten. That was worth $95 for sure. The line-ups since then have been worth a lot less than $100!

Next year's line up is basically the 10 most over-rated bands in the world plus ten other bands that I've never heard before.

How big are The Living End in Aus?

The only band i haven't seen out of my favs are the Descendents

RandyfromPennywise
11-29-2005, 07:28 AM
Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing Descendents either.

The Living End are reasonably large, they get mainstream radio play, and most everyone who knows anything about music will have heard of them, and most likely have heard/know their song Prisoner of Society. To be honest, I think they were bigger in the late 90s, and ever since Chris had his terrible car accident they kinda aren't as popular now. But they are still quite popular. Definitely one of the bigger Aussie rock bands, behind Jet and Powderfinger, probably as popular as Grinspoon (although the Grinners keep getting more and more pop all the time). So maybe in the top 5 most popular current Aussie rock bands here in Aus.

Yeah I've learnt it on bass several times. It is very hard to not play it for a month or two and then remember it all, straight away. But it is great to play it the whole way through when you've memorised it! Nailing 18 minutes of the best Punk Rock ever is a good feeling.
