Never saw what the big deal with Straight Edge was, it's never really taken off here in Australia, something for which I'm thankful. As for me, I take whatever I can get, whenever I can get it, and I haven't had a sober weekend in 3 months. I = Troo Punx

As catholic as my mom's family was, the first church service I went to was like 2 years ago at a Catholic wedding. My parents never really forced religion on me, my dad's family weren't that religious so it kind of countered my mom's uber catholicism. I did have a kid's bible, but I enjoyed reading it.

They are new emo. Not like Rites of Spring or the cool original guys. They sound nothing like them, they are like a whole different genre. And I haven't met one fan of them that is not a poser. Aren't AFI like MCR but with a different name? All these new emo bands (I like to call the **** emo, heh, see what I did there?) sound like diseases. AFI, MCR, TBS, BMV etc..

OO, OO, new emo-based confession.

Confession: I have an emo fringe, one of those face long affairs that are a mile longer than the rest of your hair and hug a third of your face. But I must say I invented that thing for myself in Israel when I was only 6. That's ten years ago, I think. Before emo had gotten famous outside of the punk scene, and way before it would have reached a little musically unaware six year old boy living in a small village in Israel. Those damn MCR fuc'ks stole my idea!

They are new emo. Not like Rites of Spring or the cool original guys. They sound nothing like them, they are like a whole different genre. And I haven't met one fan of them that is not a poser. Even my girlfriend (ex since a few hours ago, YEEEEEEHAW!) is one. I have FU'CK EMO written on my boot and some guy at my college (who's an emo) came up to me and said "What's that sh'it about, man?" and I told him it doesn't apply to Rites, Fugazi etc. and he said "Cool man, respect."

They are not 'new' emo either.

AFI is post-hardcore, MCR is pop-punk/crap.

Their fans don't know musicial genres then. There is newer emo bands out now that sound nothing like MCR. Emo is thrown around at any music that is whiny and 'emotional' when that isn't even the true defintion of emo. Emo is emotional HARDCORE, therefore MCR cannot be emo as they are not hardcore in any way.

They are bordering between pop-punk and pop-rock.

Well, I have only heard two of their "defining tracks" and completely hated them. and since everyone describes them as emo, apart from you lot, and I know what emo is and that is NOT emo, I presumed it was some sort of new hybrid horrible poser emo.

I have three cats, mon! Not including the ones outside that our neighbors don't feed. I don't get why we even fixed him. We didn't have any female cats at the time. Actually I'm not sure if "fixing" means to keep them from pissing all over.

To avoid being completely irrelevant, I will post another embarrassing fact about myself: I am so poor that any punk music I own is used, and/or on vinyl.
