So Roadrunner took the best of the best on their list of artists, assigned 4 captians, and made them make a record.

Matt Heafy (Trivium)
Robert Flynn (Machine Head)
Joey Jordison (Slipknot)
Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria

are the captians, with at least 20 artists recording songs as well.

"The End" is a completely amazing song, matt heafy SINGS on it, and his voice iis amazing (no its not screaming, its the calmest song he's ever recorded)

I definately recommend at least checking that one song out, the others are damn good also

in the fire is cool, awesome vocals and good drums, but the guitar work is pretty bad(well at least it isn't nothing new), the end pretty much sucked, and annihilation by the hand of good is cool.

which members wrote the songs?, i think in the fire was King Diamond on vocals.

/ but it is worth to listen all of them.

well (suprisingly) I only like the guitars in in the fire (2 guitarsists are matt and corey of trivium) and The end is amazing (vocalist matt of trivium)

and I hated everything about the three songs that they didnt do, especially the vocals in in the fire

Though I just have to say right now, what in god's name made Roadrunner think that Joey Jordison was the best drummer they had?

actually his drumming on the song fits very well, it's on his level.

well (suprisingly) I only like the guitars in in the fire (2 guitarsists are matt and corey of trivium) and The end is amazing (vocalist matt of trivium)

i think it's a good experiment for roadrunner records, but the guitar work on all the song isn't great, the end is bad(imo), but the vocals are cool.

In fact the only musicians i like are Dino Cazares, Glenn Benton, Di Giorgio and King Diamond; but some of the musicians i thought they suck, make a good contribution, but first i have to listen all the songs.

He fits very well, and they probably stuck him with Diecide on purpose since they are his main inspiration

Besides the solo, i think the song should be interesting too, just check the instruments they using, 3 guitars, piano; sounds like a soft song.

i'm also looking forward NO MAS CONTROL, i think it would probably be a Brujeria style song, it's been a long time without nothing similar to them.

Most of the tracks are pretty diverse, especially the ones from Team Jordison and Team Heafy..I`m not saying that the tracks from Flynn and Cazares are bad but they are a bit more generic, so to say. Certianly not. Roadrunner are lucky Robert is working with them on this. They sacked Machine Head and then asked for them to join again after they saw the success of Through The Ashes Of Empires overseas.

Robert has more right to be a "captian" on this project more than most Roadrunner artist. They (Machine Head) have been with Roadrunner since before Burn My Eyes was released, and that was 11 years ago.

They're obviously very good, experienced musicians, but Machine Head's music was always very hit-or-miss for me. Some was really good, some was weak nu metal. Through the Ashes of Empires seemed to be a good album, but I've been hearing an earlier one that makes me wonder what they were thiking. :( But since they've been around much longer than virtually all other bands on that label, I guess it would make sense to make Flynn a captian.

But still...Matt Heafy!?

Roadrunner are my 2nd fav band after KSE, 'The End' is a awesome song. I like Matt Heafy's voice like this. 'In The Fire' and 'The Dagger' are also amazing songs. Who sings, in the fire? It's a class song, and his voice changes throughout the song! :thumb:

I'm really enjoying some of the stuff on this album, it was a good idea to put together.

Favourites are Annihilation by the hands of god, I dont wanna be a super hero, The Dagger, In the fire, Army of the Sun and Dawn of a Golden Age.

They picked people like Heafy/Jordison because they are out there and big at the moment. Same goes for Fear Factory's bassist. I don't know about Flynn though. Never been to much into Machine head.

Dino Cazares is a guitarist..

They picked those 4 Captains because they all are the main songwriters in their respective bands and know their way around a studio and protools setup.

I'm absolutely no Slipknot fan but the stuff that Joey has written is pretty good.

At first I was surprised that they had chosen Joey but he surpsised me in a good way with his songwriting. Also with the guy from Trivium (Heafy?), I saw them live this week and he is an awsom stage persona.

King Diamond still the best on the album.

Amazing cd, being in Australia its quite easy to get your hands on stuff a month before its release date :chug: anyway's i love this cd, Robb Flynn and Jones from Killswitch screaming over each other in 'The dagger' is awsome. I love the misfit's singers cameo in the punk song 'I don't wanna be(a superhero)'. And a few breaks from the awsome metal tracks on this are 'the end' as listed, but i prefer Mikaels(sp) form Opeth's track.

It doesn't bother me at all, cynical isn't derogatory. It just seems like you don't like anything that you comment on (exaggeration).

Dani Filth should have done vocals. He has so much skill and writes great lyrics too.

08. Dawn of a Golden Age

Dani Filth (CRADLE OF FILTH) - vocals
Matthew K. Heafy (TRIVIUM) - lead and rhythm guitars
Justin Hagberg (3 INCHES OF BLOOD) - rhythm guitars
Sean Malone (ex-CYNIC) - bass
Mike Smith (SUFFOCATION) - drums

Music written by Matthew K. Heafy
Lyrics written by Dani Filth

Doesn't anyone find it wrong how the record companies did this?

How the Hell is this wrong? They got the artists who wanted to work together out there to collaborate, and they wrote songs together, Roadrunner didn't just put them in groups and say "Hey you, Heafy play this song with Crimson!"

God everything related to record labels is evil now .

I think you people misterpreted me. The team captains are supposed to be the best of the best. Since when is Joey Jordison the best of anything other than being overrated by teenage wannabe-troublemakers?

Now these I'd like to hear. I wasn't aware that Michale Graves worked with Roadrunner.

its not ment to be the four best musicains, coz i got the album and its ment to be four musicians with good song writing ability (it says that on the dvd u get with it)

I REALLY like "The End." Granted its not a hard-hitting, dirty, grimy song but I still think it has a lot of character. I like how the highs and lows in the song...and I absolutley adore Matt Heafy's voice. I can't stop listening to this song at all. I keep on playing it over and over again. :thumb:

I think thats the weakest track on the CD, so cliche nu-metal, just boring guitars with boring lyrics and no character in the delivery. Personally i think 'The Dagger' is the strongest track, it brings a massive smile across my face hearing Howard Jones and Robb Flynn screaming over one another at parts of that song :D

in response to the first post;
they clearly did not take the best of the best, they took the best of who was available, which resulted in such poor musicians as matt heafy as captain. the fact that opeth were too buys to do anything shouldve made the project get postponed (i know it was for the roadrunner anniversary but still - come on - its opeth fro crying out loud!)
all matt heafy can do is nick other peoples riffs and ideas, he cant even growl properly, and when he sings it sounds like hes squeezing out a really huge sh1t.
the one good team was the one with steve digiorgio on fretless bass, the deicide (?) singer, the guitarists from cannibal corpse and chimaria, with joey jordison as captain, that was a cool team, nuff said

The people who are playing on "In The Fire" are the best team imo.

King Diamond - Pure Awesome, with a capital Awesome.
Matt Heafy - Not a bad guitarist
Corey Beaulieu - Better guitarist
Dave Chavarri - Relatively good drummer.

And whoever it was that played bass for it.

Or the team for "The Dagger".
Jeff Waters.

Need I say more?
