View Full Version : Design a perfect video game

Okay guys....I have an idea. I glanced back a bunch of pages, didnt see anything like this, so if its been done, my bad.
Basically, take parts of video games youve played, and meld them together to make what would be your own personal perfect video game. Ill start.
Id take the space combat/travel and open-ended mission aspect of Freelancer. Id combine this with the on-planet aspect of Morrowind (truth is the planets in Freelancer were pretty dissapointing). This would be on EVERY planet.
Id also add to this the bladed-combat of Jedi Knight II, and the unarmed combat of Oni. Id use Deus Ex as the gun-combat mold, including weapon mods.
The geo-mod technology of Red Faction would also be used, albeit a little more usable.
What do you guys think of mine, and what are yours?

It's a game that's been updated with all the information regarding everything that exists in the world right at this moment. You can do anything you want. Fly around the world, become president in an African country. Stay in your town, become a serial killer. Walk around aimlessly, talking to people. Work to get laid/start a family. Any possibility you could possibly imagine. See anything and everything in the world that actually exists.
Too bad it's impossible, though.

I would take the graphics from ninja gaiden.
Special effects from Advent Rising and Max Payne
Add some more details(get shot in the gut and they clutch it....breathe harder and more heavily)
Realism of the Punisher(bullet holes stay)
Car chases of GTA
And an epic storyline.

I would take ragdoll physics and apply them to Madden. Then, I would take the lewdness of any GTA and add them, and I would have one awesome Madden. Imagine, you get tackled, get up, and bust an AK in that fool!

Basically there's this Black Mage who sneaks about and is not allowed to be detected by the enemy. His mission is to destroy Metal Gear Sephiroth.

A game like Gta, with better graphics and in first person. Ragdoll physics, cars exploding, limbs flying... cops coming in at all angles, Boom! Headshot, Boom! Headshot, Boom! Headshot.

The original idea posted was actually really good, although instead of Freelancer/Morrowind, Freelancer/Oblivion, that would rule.

They discussed making a GTA Mario style. It started out as a joke but then got made into an actualy idea. Not sure what their doing with it now though.

An MMOG set in the middle ages in Britain where each player is a soldiers in a battle field and huge epic battles take place. Choose who to fight for, Castle sieges, Artilery, Ambushes. Actually take over Britain!
Any games already out like this?

The idea is not "new", if it was a realistic game to build it would have been done a few times around this time :) The manhours needed for a game of that scale is just unrealistic; unless you make a sort of open-platform development enviroment where people can submit stuff like "planets" etcetera..its just not possible to design that amount of settings, villages, cities, items, plants, species, actions etc (all with a recognisable, different style) with just one team/company. But yeah, the basic idea sounds promising :)
and what are yours?
I would appreciate a cool, true-to-the-book WoT RPG (when that **** RJ finishes the series.. :P )

The perfect game would of course be a game where you can do anything you could possibly want, where the software writes itself as you do new things. So basically a life sim where you can be whatever you want, do whatever you want without fear of repercussions. Of course with full sound, smell, taste etc.
The perfect game for me that is more realistic is a Final Fantasy like world that lets you explore and do whatever you want, choose your own path etc. So basically a Final Fantasy world with the same sort of open-ended concept as The Elder Scrolls and Shenmue. It would have RPG styled combat, a combination of the combat systems of Final Fantasy VIII, Star Wars: Jedi Academy and KOTOR. The music would be composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (House Of Flying Daggers, 2046). Hideo Kojima would feature in the game in some way, to add his flair to it.
Oh and if you become the ruler of your empire or whatever in the game, it has a Age Of Empires 2/Kessen/Rise Of Nations styled sidegame where you protect your empire and stuff but with Final Fantasy styled creatures and weapons. :)
Oh and I would have Nobuo Uematsu conducting, but then it'd be too much like Final Fantasy. :-/

yeah, that's the cliche *perfect game*, i guess. just a really big sandbox with only reasonable limitations. buuut also, there should be events that aren't actually happening in the world, aaaand you could be able to travel time and live exactly as the world used to be or in the carefully calculated future. yes, it would be splendid.

:p Because I don't believe in the perfect videogame. Everygame has its merits, and it pretty much depends on the person playing it.
My game for example, is being designed for a certain crowd, not everyone. I realize that I can't make it a perfect game, but I can make it an awesome game for that crowd in particular.
