Well, I'm finally getting a band together, and I want to get 2 microphones and a speaker to set them up on, but I dont know what I need, so any help would be appreciated...

I want to get two Shure SM58's... and hook them up together through a small and cheap Peavey PV6 Mixer (just for the 2 mics) with Shure C50J Mic Cables, into a Peavy PV215 Speaker Cabinet.

I'm not sure exactly what equipment I need, I was thinking just two mics with cables hooked into the mixer, then a cable from the mixer to the Speaker. Also, how is the speaker powered, do you just plug it in? I have no experiance except for guitars with a guitar amp.

So I was just needing to know if I need any additional equipment other than that, or if the way I'm thinking on how you set it up is wrong. Thanks in advance!

The PV215 cabinet is not a powered speaker. So this means you need to invest in a power amp or a powered mixer.

So if I buy a Peavey XR600G Powered Mixer and hook it up to the PV215 speaker with a normal speaker cord will the speaker be powered?

Yes.

Why do you want such a big cabinet for just vocals? You don't need the extra 15. You could go with the PV115 or the PR series stuff.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with the PV115... It will probably be two vocals and maybe a bass.

Yeah. That's not a bad idea.
Get two speakers tho. Because the powered mixer will have both a left and right output so you should have one speaker for each of those.
