It has something to do with the gun hitting the color white. My friend said he would win by shooting his celing.

I believe that when you pulled the trigger, it would cause the screen to flash black with a little white square where the duck is. If the gun was aimed at this square (the duck), then the sensor would pick it up and the duck would be successfully shot.

I rock at Duck Hunt.

I'm not sure, but I remember I would always cheat by standing right next to the screen. I figured myself to be a clever little 6-year-old

I've heard that if you put a magnifying glass in front of the gun, and you shot it, the reading laser or whatever spreads out and hits everything.

Makes sense. For NES though that's pretty impressive.

Yeah I remember hearing of some kind of bug like that, ours was that if you shot the bottom-left corner of the screen, everything would be hit, and you could cheat at duck hunt.

el doctor is correct.
That thing was awesome. Much better than that bazooka thing for the SNES. If you moved even an inch, it had to be calibrated again. Not to mention the dreadful games and the battery consumption. Lame.

I'd 123 that. I'm really surprised no crazy eco-terrorist PETA freak has sued Nintendo for making that game yet. I'm sure they would have were you able to shoot the dog though

I frickin' hate that stupid dog:angry:
Recently my brother and I played on that with our uncle's NES, we got to level 25 before the ducks were too fast.
We did Impulse Shots. The kind where you keep the lightgun down, bring it up and shoot a duck when you see it. We got to level 20 before we had to keep the gun at TV screen level.

Dude, you pitch in about 5-6 bucks and I pitch in about 5-6 bucks and we can go get a NES and Duck Hunt at GameStop.

We did that too. Only we did shots of tequila whenever we missed.
We made it to level 8...

I think our uncle might sell it off, as they just keep it in storage at my grandpa's place.

I currently own three of the light guns. None of them work.
-Side Note: I bought the Mario and Duck-Hunt combo for 25 cents.
