I wanted to know what the best music program is for PC. I've had Adobe Audition for a while now, and I wanted to know if there's anything better and what that might be. Thanks.

But ProTools (with the exception of the free version that only runs on win98) is only useable if you have compatable hardware.

Do Sonar or Cubase not come in to play then?

i have cubase and i think it's kind of over rated.
i have audition, cubase, and audacity. audition is really the only one i use.

Cubase sx IMO is the best, but you need to learn how to use it properly to b able to use it to its best

You have to have a "hardware protection device" to use it, don't you?

Actually, I heard that Cakewalk's mixdown algorithms are lacking compared to e few of the higher end programs. I have always used it, but am about to upgrade to Sonor.

I've used both Audobe Audition and Sony Acid Pro religiously you don't have to take my word for it in fact you should try as many as possible before you make that decision, but to me right now Audition is easy to use with the tracks and eq's set up so nicely on the other hand the hardware interface was giving me a tough time. I still want to go over cakewalk and other programs such as ProTools.
*Is it true that you need to configure some system files in order to use protools on a windows machine?*
