View Full Version : Are they worth it?
I've been looking to upgrade my cymbals, as the ones I got with my Session Pro set are, in all fairness, bollocks :)
Anywho, is the Zildjian ZBT 4 Pro Cymbal Package (Hi-hats, crash and ride) a decent enough upgrade, or should I pay a bit more and buy them all seperately?
I'm only asking 'cos I know in most cases package sets are rip-offs and not worth alot.
EDIT: They cost around £140 at Sound Control, but I'm not sure about anywhere else or USA.

People in D&P might know more.
The Z set should be decent. I've heard of paiste sets dissapointing a few people, though. If you want real quality from your cymbals buy them separately but a Z set should not be a rip-off.

ZBTs aren't very good cymbals. You will be a lot happier if you save up and get some Zildjian A's.

Don't get ZBTs.
If you absolutly have to have decent cymbals right now, get a set of Wuhans, Sabians B8 Pros, or Paiste PST 3/5. However, I recommend you save up and buy one professional cymbal at a time, starting with hats, than ride, then your crashes.

1. Don't buy ZBT's
2. Don't buy any Paistes below 802. (or the 802's to be honest)
3. Don't buy any B8's
The above cymbals are an utter ****ing waste of money.
I've had a sabian b8 18inch crash for 2 years and it's been hit less than ten times. At 60 pounds, it's miles worse than my stagg DH brilliant 14 and 16inch.
If you buy a low level budget set you'll be regretting it in a few months.
If you're really pushed for cash, I'd go for staggs, for 20 pounds you'll get a 14 inch crash that shares alot of qualities with it's AA counterpart.
But just remember, it share some qualities, it isn't an AA copy and won't be as good. But they've been used for recordings and I can reccomend them.
So if you're pushed for cash, at least get Staggs than the above rip offs.
But like everyone else has said, it's gonna be best to save up and get a cymbal at a time.
