they know what they do. the lyrics are so impressive, they're old now, but experienced. the signer greg graffin just got his phd, so they know what they're talking about. I could say that every rap songs sound the same, every metal songs sound the same, but for me all bad religion's songs are unique. its just my taste.

I want to conquer the world is insanely good

I love bad religion, not just because they're music and lyrics are better than 90% of any other bands, not just because theyve been around forever, and still kick *** much *** as they did years ago, and not just because their live show is amazing.

What i really like about them is how easy they are to make fun of. Wether it be the cheesy guitar solos (modern man), the album Into the Unknown, the whole Atlantic thing, the video for Struck a Nerve where Greg wears some of the weirdest clothes, having THREE guitar players, or the fact that Greg Graffin looks like Bruce Willis' long lost brother.

No Control is amazing no doubt. I just think No Control was a bit of a let down. Paid full price for an album 30 minutes in length, where just about every song sounds the same..

No Control, You, I Want to Conquer the World and Henchmen highlight that one for me.

Against the Grain just captures their signature sound to me. It is their defining album, both lyrically and musically.

Drop The Baby
09-20-2005, 07:15 AM
I love that album for reasons that you've given for disliking it. The length means that its never dull and its constantly so fast and powerful.

they are just doing what pretty much every other punk band are doing right now, which is making money. If they say they are playing just for the music, they are lying through their back teeth in my opinion. Perhaps in the first 10 years of their career they were playing more for the music but now Epitaph is just about money and making bands get big through it. Why are they signing Atmosphere and all these other rap acts.

Atmosphere & Sage Francis are easily two of my favorite Rappers (and I don't like much rap) and I couldn't be happier having them on Epitaph, people are always saying "OMGZZZZ that bands not Pnuk An Teir on EpiTaph!!!!11" some of the best bands on Epitaph aren't punk, take sage francis, the black keys and dave hillyard for example.

They were on atlantic records, and have had a lot of videos and such. So they've kind of already been "in the mainstream". I don't think they're going to get much bigger than they've ever been, seeing as they're old as hell, and most people who listen to "mainstream" music would hate them.

It's their record label, if they want to sign rap, they can sign rap, no where does it say they are an exclusively punk record label, they just happen to sign mostly punk bands.
It's Brett's record label.

Other than that, and that BR is on Epitaph, Epitaph has nothing to do with Bad Religion.

Whoever was complaining about Bad Religion because of Epitaph, may I remind you that your name is fat wreck punk. Do the crappy bands on fat wreck mean that NOFX sucks and don't care about music?

Personally I reckon Bad Religion's best albums were made on Epitaph in the early 90s. After they went to Sony they just went downhill a bit. I mean they became more musically diverse but I preferred their earlier stuff.

And their last album was a bit of a letdown as well, the worst since No Substance. Too many filler tracks I reckon.

They actually have whole live bad religion gigs recorded at http://www.bad-religion.net/ , including the one in camdem from a couple of months ago, which was, from what I've read, better than the one which I went to at the astoria.

Just click on english, go to MP3 and download away. If you've got a crappy 56k connection like me, the only one you can download is bad religion live in the lowlands 2005, in the Netherlands. All the other downloads on the MP3 section can't be resumed, only this one can. They also have a few live videos around somewhere.

BTW, there are tons of great BR songs out there, but the three that come to mind first are Skyscraper,Generator and Sorrow. Also check out Against the Grain, which is probably my favourite album so far, although I haven't heard all of BR's albums.

As my title says I just seen Anti-Flag and Bad Religion last night. Crowned king opened for them and IMO they were not that great. Couldn't here the trombone at all and vocals were terrible.
Anti-Flag came on next and got the crowd going. About halfway though there set they started preaching George Bush.

Then came bad religion, what I went for. They really got the crowd going, played really good and some really funny stuff happened in their set.
some sercurity was going to kick a guy out for moshing and they stopped the song right in the middle to tell the sercurity to leave him alone.

Pro's-great song choices by both bad religion and anti-flag, watching some guy get beat down by sercurity when he started smoking pot.
