Hey there. I'm a very serious guitarist and ideally would make it doing that, but I'm trying to be a bit realistic.
My goal is to become a record executive type guy, or perhaps start a label or production company after I finish with my education. However, I don't want to pidgeon-hole myself into a specific position--I'd like some options in case things don't work out in the music field. This rules out any "Music Management" majors.
What I'm thinking I'd like to do is go to either DePaul or Columbia College and major in sound engineering (recording and/or live sound). After I finish with that, I'd like to get an MBA. However, I'm not sure if a top-notch MBA program (Northwestern, specifically) would accept me with such a seemingly unrelated undergrad major.
I don't think it would be a smart move for me to do an undergrad major in business because I would think the MBA would be more worthwhile than a Sound Engineering grad degree.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
