Iknow one exercise that can help. Have him breathe through a straw for 20 minutes, then after a week or so 30 minutes, then 40, etc. Any breathing exercise, or just practicing it.

I've never heard of the other one, but yes breathing through a straw while watching tv or on the computer or whatever. It restricts your air-flow, making the lungs stronger/used to less air. Like training yourself for diving when you breathe through the mask for a long time to get used to it. The singer in my band used to have the same problem, he'd run out of breath quickly, but within the past few months he's gotten a lot better. So it comes with time too

Nonsense. Tell him to practice singing. And practice singing the words instead of screaming them. If you cant keep the cords closed the air is gonna leak out and there you go. If you cant make it by singing then you need to keep practicing till you can because you definitely wont be able to scream it. I would say take the the straw time and go jogging cause it will not only help your body as a whole but it will build way more lung capacity....naturally.

^^very true but if you're on the computer or something where you are basically doing nothing, it's something that will help.
