View Full Version : Deathcore!

Special Brew

I have just recently discovered this supposed genre, and I am in love with it. Please discuss things to do with it here, and suggest bands.

Current bands are:
Stick To Your Guns (http://www.myspace.com/styg)
Deadwater Drowning (http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/1067/index.php)
Despised Icon (http://www.myspace.com/despisedicon)
Animosity (http://www.myspace.com/animositysf)

I want to hear more. So far I have not heard enough to warrant that is an actual genre, and it seems just to be a branch of metalcore. It's just a branch off metalcore it seems, but has very distinct influences that most metalcore lacks. Even if you don't think it is a genre(I don't yet), you should see the particular sound I'm looking for.

JACK!

It isn't a genre, but I know the sound you're getting at. Check out All Shall Perish the whole of Hate. Malice. Revenge. is fantastic.

They are ok, way too hardcore kids over here like to play Doctor Hardass.

Check out Liu Kang, they have a pretty metallic sound but they totally know whats up, pretty much the only uk band Ive heard that speaks out against the Ganster bull**** going on in UK hardcore, especially round London.

Also, The End, Glass Casket, Ion Dissonance and Misery Index will probably make you happy. All are quite technical bands that are definitely core based, but with elements of death. All very technical and heavy.

Well truly there aren't many bands that actually do mix death metal and hardcore, and there's even fewer good ones. So yeah the majority of suggestions you're going to get is basically death with breakdowns. I would consider BTM death, but I would also consider Despised Icon and All Shall Perish predominantly death, so whatever.

BuddyBigsby

Idiots.

They were supposed to play right before Final Fight at this college student lounge show. Well, earlier in the show Final Fight asked STYG if they'd mind switching spots with them since they share members with Fortunate Son, who were set to play right before STYG. This way, things would be a lot easier and equipment wouldn't have to be moved and dismantled just to be put back a set later. That and FF traveled a bit of a distance to play, whereas STYG were from fairly close nearby.

Well, STYG agreed and was cool about it, but right after Final Fight played a fight broke out outside and the dude running it had to call the show off.

shane italian
09-19-2005, 04:43 PM
It was those lame staff members. They are the only ones who could have called the cops...that or campus security.

And from what I hear, that kind of thing happens at EVERY show in south county.

Oh no, the band wasn't involved in the fight at all. I guess some girl started shit with some other girl, and it escalated to a 3 on 2 fight from there. One of the guys helping with the show tried to stop it and got attacked. He had to go into surgery for 5 hours.

No, I disliked STYG before any of this went down. I do feel bad for them about getting screwed though.

I think the fact that death metal is falsely associated with the genre of punk is an entirely misconceived notion. The essence of a genre does not lay within a bands lyrics or riffs, but with how many false idols are raised in respect to ones so-called god given talent. It is not the common inhabitant of earth to decide the genre such as "deathcore" but it is the role of those that inhabit a higher mortal coil aka thor, king of the norse gods

Dead to Fall definitely has death metal influence, I'm not sure they sound like the other bands listed though, Glass Casket, Red Chord, despised Icon, BTBAM, they all toe the line between technical death and metalcore

I like how a band that just "came out" can be one of your favorite bands ever.

Everyone listen to this band right now. They are the perfect example of what I meant by "deathcore".

Ever see them live?

I have, three times.

Horrible live band. Get out of here with that deathcore nonsense

I have. Good live band, and I don't care to listen to them on record.

Also, there's several Animositys. I don't think the SF one has ever even been to Florida three times. Sure you're talking about the same one?

Isnt this stuff getting labelled white belt now?
I thought white belt was Locust, An Albatross, Daughters nu-grind stuff?

Anyway check out The Taste Of Blood. They've got someone from Animosity in them. I like them more than Animosity honestly. Similarish type stuff to what you're looking for I guess.

All Shall Perish > all other deathcore

I'd say deathcore is more a sub-genre of death metal rather than a sub-genre of metalcore

You are all wrong, deathcore is not a fucking genre.
