Hey! Im a 15 year old sophmore in high school and play drumset. Im very serious about my music and have taken many private lessons from a lot drummers that really know their stuff. Im going to be applying for college soon and have been thinking about music school. I live in nj and have some phenomenal music schools near me. I have been leaning towards Berklee (although its really expensive) I was wondering of my chances of getting in. My resume is 5 years drumset (7 if you count elementary) 4 years snare drum in high school marching band and 2 years in the Local164 marching band.

Feel free to ignore this as im talking british, but in britain a lot of schools are based off an audition aswell as a resume. I'd think 65-70% audition 30% resume. So find out if you need an audition peice, get that sorted, and if it fits their requirements, then why not :).

^^wrong.

Berklee has auditions and a theory test.

Anyway. For drumset players, University of North Texas is great.
and my personal preference is University of Tennessee.

But if you're into big time concert percussion, then Berklee or Julliard is the way to go. They are very expensive though.
Or go to Yale. Robert Van Syce teaches there, he was the first ever marimbist to study with Keiko Abe.
If you don't know Keiko Abe, then you don't know your orchestral percussion

Hee, bump.

Berklee has auditions and a theory test.

Wrong.

From Berklee's admissions FAQ:

Q: What are the audition requirements?

Auditions for admission to the College are not normally required as part of the application process. Students are evaluated based on submitted documentation demonstrating their previous training, records at previous music schools or conservatories, and/or information provided by a recent instructor. Auditions are available for scholarship consideration.
