Hey everyone,
ill make it short. My lead singer need's a good PA system and we dont have much money. he can spend total around 400 dollars and it needs to be able to go loud and sound good. it would also be good to be able to have multiple speakers so over time he can get another speak or to if he need's. we only need one speaker to start because over time he will get another speaker.
how do i make this all happen?

So you are only running vocals through it?
What are you using it for? How many people?
Why only get one speaker, get at least two right away?

onlly one person is going to sing through it. need's to be very loud for live shows in big venues and outside. I was only saying one speaker cause we have a small budget so i thought 1 good speaker would be better then 2 crappy speakers.

There are some power amps taht can be bridged, but I'm not sure if they make powered mixers that can be bridged, which is what you might want because of cost. Well you could look at the behringer ep1500 for a power amp(which can be bridged but would be very high wattage), and you'd only need a mini mixer so that'd be cheap. As for speakers, just find something that has the wattage you need within the price.

I doubt you will find what you are looking for in the 400 dollar range.

PAs are unfortunately one of the more expensive band related things.
For a decent small scale setup you'd easilly be able to spend over a grand.
Then when it comes to upgrading, the sky is the limit.
But my advice would be to save up more.
Perhaps in the meantime you could rent one for shows. Or hopefully the venues that you play at will have an in-house PA.

If you only need one channel for vocals you could do something like this.
1. Mixer (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live/search/detail/base_pid/631239/)................................$35.00
2. Power amp (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live/search/detail/base_pid/480697/).........................$300.00
3. Speakers (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live/search/detail/base_pid/601371/)...........................$200.00 each = $400.00
Grand Total = $735.00
Then all you will need is the mics, speakers stands, and cabling.

basically what i was saying but he could save at least $160 by getting the smaller peaveys, its the same speaker with a smaller woofer, which he doesn't really need anyway since he's not mic'ing a drummer or bassist. And he could also save another $50 by getting the ep1500 instead of the ep2500, although IMO the extra wattage is worth the $50. So if you got the smaller speakers(only a smaller woofer, same wattage) and the smaller amp, it'd only be $520, or $570 witht he bigger amp, which isn't bad for a decent size pa system.

I would rather get the 15 inchers and the 2500 amp. Better to pay a little more now, than be upset later because you don't have enough wattage or cabinet size. Then you have to upgrade and spend even more money. Same with the mixer, maybe you want more channels?

same for me and guitar FX
there's always one more sound you might want... its horrible. you can never be 100% happy with your guitar rig, there's always something you want.

same here, seeing as I just got the 2500, and I actually got the 12" speakers because we were already pushing our budget past what everyone wanted to pay. It came to like $720 before cables and everything. So about $800 so far and our singer is buying a mic which will bring it up to $900 total. Our singer wanted to pay 700 max but we convinced him to pay more, and I chipped in a little with the drummer. I woulda helped more but I'm broke from buying an amp and stuff to build cabinets/saving for a car.
So after that pointlessly long ramble, yea if you can afford the 15" get them.
