AH! i bought it yesterday, its called Kezia. and its AMAZING. Way harder than their last CDs and WAY more talented. Its running closer to metalcore... The lyrics are way less politically angry but still good, puzzling and cryptic, but good. The bottom line is, you should all go out and by this album immediately.
www.purevolume.com\protestthehero has one track (Nautical) but don't go by that, i heard it and wasn't a big fan, it fits in to the album much better than as a single track.

It's a lot more metal than usual but I guess people can dig that. They're still tight.

They're awesome. I've liked them forever. Kezia hasn't left my CD player since i bought it.
They're stll political, but i read in an interview that they are trying to write lyrics that are less obvious, and a bit more metaphorical and cryptic. The album itself is a concept album, about Kezia.
My theory is that part 1 is about religion, part 2 is about politics, part 3 is about gender roles and relationships, and part 4 is about themselves.

Hahahaha I remember once there was a big hardcore show in Toronto that, for some odd reason, Protest the Hero played at. ****ed Up, the local band that was headlining, went up and starting making soooo much fun of them. They said it was a hardcore show for hardcore kids, not whiney little suburban sellouts. So yeah, Protest the Hero went home, and people danced harder than ever for ****ed Up. End of story .

Protest the Hero is terrible. The vocalist (or I think the new vocalist?) really does sound like he's whining
Hahahahahahahahaha they suck.

Yeah, most people have problems with the vocals.
I admit, he used to be really really whiny in the early days of Protest The Hero, but nowadays, I think he's really improved exponatially since their EP.

what an awesome band... their vocalist can get whiny sounding, but I still love them. Hes a lot less whiny in the new stuff though, which is good.

ya he's whiney but i've gotten used to it and now i don't think i'd have it any other way, it fits really well into the music. And besides, its offset by the other members screaming and yelling.

Yeah, I have that song and I think it's pretty good. The vocalist is VERY whiny, but I don't mind it.
wtf, whiny? He has an unusual and high-pitched voice, he doesn't whine. People are faggots when it comes to judging voices.
Awesome band, by the way. "Kezia" should drop arrive at my doorstep any day now.

I remember when that happened actually, cept that's now how it happend. It was at the 360 and everyone went insane for protest, then F.ucked Up came on and blew chunks. Here's what the bassist said when I talked to him about this:
diggin' freak nasty without a shovel says:
it was at the 360. people went particualrly nuts for us that night. after the show we went straight to the bar and got dead drunk while the ****ed-Up guys sat in the corner reshading the Xs on their hands.
I've seen Protest 27 times, everytime they've been in Toronto since August 2003, minus one or two times. Seriously, if you guys don't like this album, at least apprecaite it. The lyrics are far beyond some lame hardcore band who just sings about how tough they are. Rody's voice, like it or lump it, is outstanding on this album. Let's see you guys sing three octaves at 18... Arif's bass work, Moe's drumming and then the guitars...Dear God. You guys are morons for not realizing what this album is.

You're a moron for not realizing Protest the hero are Canada's worst band ever. They play nothing but **** rock onstage, atleast when I saw them. And please, another octave higher and my eardrums will shatter.

Well pardon me but the fact that you'd prefer some crust punk band more concerned with gelling their hair or some queer hardcore band with x's all over them more than a group with actual talent is beyond me. If they were Canada's worst band ever, why did they sell 10,000 records just over a month after Kezia's release? If they were Canada's worst band, why do they sell out every show. If they were Canada's worst band, explain the awards they've won. Yeah, I thought so.

Explain it? Their fans have bad taste. The critics have bad taste, and the people taht buy their records have bad taste. A bands success doesn't measure how good they are.

So when someone sells a large amount of records does that mean they are suppose to appeal to everyone? I an now just going to assume you're a fan of Mariah carey, The Beatles, Micheal Jackson, etc, since you love to generalize and play off of stereotypes so much. I was at the Underground Operations show in Toronto Last week, and it wasn't sold out, I was at Bad religion last month, and I don't believe that was soldout (correct me if I am wrong.) Congradulations to Protest for getting where they are, but I just don't like their music, and I don't see it as anything unique.

So people buying lots of a band's record obviously makes them the greatest thing ever. With that logic every pop group or singer with a platinum record are great singers.

If you don't paticularly like their music, then that's fine. Don't be dicks about it though. At they very least, you have to admit that they're talented, they're unique, and that they've achieved alot for only being like 18.
