I've been experimenting with different scales and modes and i've gotten a few cool licks here and there, but nothing that special. Does anyone know of any good scales that i can use that are a little more exotic. I know there are many different scale variations out there and im open to anything. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'd look in the guitar or bass forum, depending on your instrument.

The guitar forum would be more appropriate for this topic. In accordance to your question though, try learning some basic music theory, that will assist you drastically in music creation. Do a google search for "cyberfret" a great asset for learning.

i've been in my school band for about six years, so i have my fair share of music theory, but the same major and minor get old. im looking for something new.

Then spice it up, I'm sure you must be familiar with the modes. Start using them to influence your playing. My personal favorites are mixolydian, lydian and aeolian (minor). If your not sure on how these are constructed, look for that site I told you about...cyberfret... It's a great source.
