This is a short, unstructured, poem like piece I wrote for a friend of mine who lives out of state. Constructive criticism and critiques are welcome. :) I've also been thinking of adding some type of chorus or bridge as well to extend it and make it possibly song worthy.

Silence, will guide me to the end. My pain is caused by a beloved departure. A trophy in my life, kept off display. It was once all golden. The nights will forever creep by slowly; I know not what to do with myself. But I will always be waiting, withering, for something, to me show me that this pain is a useless burden. I know you well, an angel sent without wings. Grounded upon this earth to forever give me guidance. Alone I sit at the foot of the hill, and look beyond the lake. I remember our first "hellos". Like a vagabond, I will travel beyond my inner limits just to see that this pain does not hold you down as well. Together we can fade away, like those once golden autumn leaves.

Edit: Sorry for earlier reffering to it as a sonnet, I should have known that it is in fact not a sonnet.

A sonnet has 12 lines of iambic pentameter.
