A friend wants me to play an intro for his band, but the only music he has is in tabs... and they make no sense to me whatsoever.

So... how do you read them? I got the basic notes down... but timing and crap and beats and whatnot...

Well, tabs are mainly for cover songs, I have never been given a tab for an original. Either ask your friend to play it, or ask him ti write it out with a composing software.

No, it's a cover song, lol.

I figured out how to play it anyways after listening to the song, but piano tabs in general still don't make sense to me.

Try to import the tab using a program like Guitar Pro.
Then turn on Standard Notation and you'll see the notes you have to play.

Yes, and if you know how to use them, you'll never play classical again. (Rock keys> world)

Knowing how to use them doesn't mean I never want to play classical again. I love classical music, and I also love rock music.
