The DVD cover seemed interesting but I don't want an Interview...I want to see them Live!!

Yeah, we all want a Live DVD. Let's hope they do eventually do one.

I'll stick to youtube for now :p

How come lengthy ?

And AiA was in Europe, Live DVD here ;)

Thor

A live DVD would make me incredibly happy, just as long as they played plenty of the older songs and not much off of Dark Saga.

Lord Abortion

Lengthy means not just bastarding London, or one festival, like it usually is

They owe us!
You got a TGB tour and we didn't!

Stormrider
06-14-2006, 12:46 PM
Can't to see more stuff happening in the official site. Added tour dates every so often, news on the new album with suggested song titles and stuff. It's fun to see where the song titles are at first, and how they are when the album is done.

I'm glad to read that update on icedearth.com. I notice it was done a day before the release of Ripper's new album, which is a damn fine album by the way. I was wondering if Iced Earth was going to be auditioning vocalists again but I guess that's not the case

NP Beyond Fear - Scream Machine

Stormrider
06-16-2006, 09:16 AM
Nah, Tim will be the vocalist on the new IE albums...he is in the band. Unless something happens and he leaves or something, which I highly doubt.

Can't wait for the albums ! I check the site everyday for some more updates on the albums..

I havn't heard anything off of Tim's new album though...

NP Rhapsody - The Dark Tower of Abyss

Daven
06-16-2006, 09:39 AM
When is the new album supposed to come out?

Stormrider
06-16-2006, 09:44 AM
There's no official release date. But the first of the 2 albums should come out sometime next year, earlier next year is my guess, as in Spring or something. And Schaffer mentioned that the albums should come out about 6 months apart.

Daven
06-16-2006, 09:45 AM
How will be singing??

Stormrider

Hmm i dont have The Glorious Burden. Is it good?

Stormrider
06-16-2006, 10:03 AM

Thor

Anthrax.

Tim was certainly the best part of his band, which i must say were fairly average as a whole. Good guitarist though.

Is seeing Tim live the closest anyone has come to seeing Iced Earth here?

Stormrider
06-16-2006, 03:51 PM
New material will all do us good :)

Do you guys think on the upcoming tours that they'll play a lot of their new songs ?

wrathchild88
06-16-2006, 03:56 PM
You mean TGB or their new new stuff?

Because they cancelled some of the TGB tour, didn't they? Or am I making stuff up again?

Stormrider
06-16-2006, 06:18 PM
I meant the tours following the new albums. If there's going to be a lot of the new songs being played...

But no you're right, some of the TGB tour was cancelled.

Darkness

Does anybody else get absolutly floored when listening to the "I avenge with darkness" part in Dracula? That's my favorite part of any Iced Earth song. Maybe because I love the story of Dracula... and... Castlevania games...

Stormrider
06-16-2006, 10:14 PM
I avenge with darkness, the blood is the life
The Order of the Dragon, I feed on human life

\m/

Absolutley amazing. That's definitely one of my favorite parts of the song. Whole song is amazingthough. I played along to Horror Show before. Dragon's Child goes unoticed, I love Barlow's singing on that song.

I got Tim's album a couple days ago. It's actually really good. Just straight up kick-*** metal. Maybe not to original, but very well done. Not to mention his vocals sound even more powerfull now.

Stormrider

I've come to the conclusion that the Burnt Offerings chorus is one of my favorite chorus's. I love that clean passage:

Dark shadows fall on this sacred ground
Where true evil lies, summon them to rise
Take the traitors, thieves and liars
Feed them to the fire
But first, spread their blood around
The message will be found
Walk carefully my friends stab my back again
A warning from the sky

Can it get any better ?

NP Iced Earth - Last December

Thor
06-17-2006, 11:04 AM
Oh, I think it can.

I will have her, she is mine
Rise of the sun, my test of time
And when shadows fall on unholy ground
It's time to sleep again
-Diary

That part is just too badass for mere words.

Stormrider

I rather the Thorns ripping through his brow part and her throat I'll have it now part.

Awsome song.

NP Diary

Burning Oasis is a very good song. I just happen to come back from playing along to Burnt Offerings. Burning Oasis is the only song from the album that I havn't learned :p that and Peirced Spirit which I just sing along to.

Later, it will be Night of the Stormrider \m/

Down, be still thy cursed wolf
The master scorns its name
Dive to the next plain
The sullen and the vain
Suffer for greed
The prodigal they bleed
For all eternity
Plutus holds the key

Damned, the wrathful and the vain
Suffer the fifth plain
Cross the river Styx
Heed your crucifix
The mudded corpses cry
Howling to the sky
Reach the other side
Open wide the gate

Best part of Burnt Offerings.

Judas' screaming here in agony
The traitors freeze for all eternity

Yeah, I love that part too, but it's not my favorite. Just me. The intro is definitely in my top 3 favorite IE intros...I think.

I also love the first clean part. The one after the solo.

Drifting now down deeper, into eternal flames
Awake at the third circle, the cold and filthy rain
Punished for their gluttony, languid for all time
The earth it stinks of corpses, damned for all time
The vicious beast Cerebus, three heads, blooded eyes
Tears his talons through the air, all the skinners cry

Even if the songs you had were from the remastered, I doubt it would say it was released in 2001.

And the remasters have somethings that havce been changed. The intro to the song Burnt Offerings for one. It's not that piano intro, but a guitar intro instead. Still good. Travel in Stygian is missing a little lead, which you hear on Alive in Athens. Same with When the Nightfalls.

I'm not aware of any other differences in the songs....except for quality.

Days of Purg doesn't have Burnt Offerings.

But I'm looking at my copy right now, it's the 2001 remaster with the artwork with the demon on the front, not that gloomy demon angel. And Burnt Offerings has the keyboard intro.

The song Burnt Offerings I had probably a few years ago on my computer was not as good production-wise, and it had the guitar intro. That made me assume that it was the original from 1995.

Darkness
07-02-2006, 06:18 PM
I guess you're right then.

That 'gloomy demon angel' is a famous picture of Satan and Dante from his poem Dantes Inferno. It's pretty cool, I like that picture a lot more then the newer one.

Edit: Actually, Days of Purg does have Burnt Offerings. On the second CD.

If you check out this tab here, he tabs the studio version and the Days of Purg version. Days having a guitar intro, studio having a guitar transcribed for the keyboard part. The question is... is he tabbing the remastered or not...

Who else agrees that Iced Earth should just get Jimmy McDonough back on bass? He knows the material, he left on good terms, and he's out of Megadeth. He's the perfect candidate.

Stormrider

Jimmy played on Something Wicked and The Glorious Burden. And He's the bassist on Alive in Athens.

Burnt Offerings is on the 2 disc version of Days of Purgatory. On DoP, it has the guitar intro, on the remaster AND the orginal it has the piano with the demon guy talking. I made a mistake before, got confused with DoP. DoP also has some other changes to the songs. So, you never get the full version unless you get the orginals. Well for the songs When the Nightfall and Travel in Stygian that is. I'm not too sure for any changes other then those 2 songs. Except for Alive in Athens, which has both leads that the songs on the remasters are missing.

The one dsic version of DoP misses out on a lot IMO.

Do you think Schaffer would consider getting DiGiorgio back after what happened ? Like when the band lost all contact with him after Horror Show ?

Darkness
07-03-2006, 11:14 AM
What? How did that happen?

Stormrider
07-05-2006, 09:18 AM
I don't know how that happened. But Steve recorded all parts on the album, was on the picture that was going to be in the album booklet...and then the band lost all contact with him. They couldn't talk to him. So Schaffer took him out of the picture and put him as a guest musician of the album.

I'm not sure if that's all, but that's the part I know.

Also, I found out on MA that on a Japanese version of Something Wicked, there's a bonus song which is Stormrider live at Wacken '98. How cool is that ?!

Also again, Yesterday I went biking while listening to Horror Show was fun.

And I started watching the Gettysburg movie yesterday night. Because of the IE trilogy, I know soem of the characters and what's going to hapen and stuff. It's pretty cool.

I have periods when I don't feel like drumming, either, but it goes up and down all the time. The only kind of drumming I constantly like doing is hand drumming, you know bongos, darbuka, djembe, that kind of stuff.

Maybe your friend will get an urge to take up the drums again in a while, who knows?

I've said this a few times, and I'll say it again. I think for most people Dark Saga is an album that grows on you. I've seen some people around here who loved it first shot, but others who don't like it as much. I wasn't big into it at first, now I love it. Really is an awsome album. :)

Do you own any other albums ?

Nope, only Dark Saga and DoP.

The first song I heard by IE was Jeckyl & Hyde, so I've been meaning to get Horror Show for ages, since I was 13 and I'm now 18...they're one of those bands that I like, but have never been really high on my albums-to-buy list.

Also Horror Show always seems to cost loads, its annoying.

I don't know. Not just the choir. Even though Barlow is really awsome live with that song, I just prefer most of the studio feel to it...the intro sounds scarier aswell...heh. Because of the higher voice int he back me thinks. Adds a lot.

He goes really low live though. Meh, both are awsome.

I recorded at my GF's with her webcam. I have a webcam here, but I don't know how to use it :p I have to go on my bro's computer and yeah....

I think It's because the amp was too loud and facing the webcam. If I put the volume really really low on windows media player, it's not that bad. It;s just the cringy noises...they're like always there in every note i play.

Oh that sucks, try putting the amp away from the webcam so then the sound doesn't hit directly into it....I don't know about this though, it's just a random thought :p

By the way, can you.....record your GF for about 1 second :D hahahah JK Jammie <3

I might be posting my photobucket...she's in one of the pictures :p

And I have plenty of silly pictures...maybe i'll be a fool for the rest of my life If I post them.

And yeah, I won't do that next time...put the amp facing the camer I mean.

Only if it's heavy.

Hey I was just quickly reading an interview with Tim. Apparently, some of Barlows backing vocal tracks were left on TGB. I thought that was kinda cool. It's like he's still there... in spirit. That should be motivation enough for me to pick up the album. :p

Stormrider
07-19-2006, 05:51 PM
Yeah, you slightly hear him once in When the Eagle Cries. Listen carefully and he's there.

And NOTSR is heavy. Trust me ;)

I think Hold at All Costs would be better if it were Barlow singing. His voice suits the song more then it does Tim. No offense to Tim or anything.

I love both HS and BO, but I just love the others more. IE....I can't really get into.

Stormrider should be on that list, along with 3/4 of the rest of them!
