Hit the ball fewer times, but still get it in the hole.

Get a caddy to get reminding you to focus, keep your head down, not to tilt the club face, to follow through, etc...

drive for show, put for dough
really though, you need to give us some idea of your skill level
One thing I always do before golfing on a new course is to find out the grass on the greens. I grew up on bent grass, and the first round I played on bermuda I must have had like 40 putts. If I know the greens are bermuda, I use one putter, and if they're bent, I use another. There are several other types of grass, its just that bermuda and bent are the ones in my area.
Anyway, good luck.

Don't talk to the other people you play with. Only talk when you need to. And pick one song and play it over and over in your head all day.

I've been in my fair share of golf tournaments, and I usually just treat it like a normal round. I find that if you are all nervous and tense, your swing goes to ****. But you have to still remember to concentrate hard be sharp mentally.
