I sure hope that moog synthesizers go down in price because of this, I want one!

He was sure a genious though.

That's just ****ing horrible. Dr.Moog was a legend, an innovator and a genius to say the least. I can't believe this has happened... wow... i'm in disbelief.

Robert Moog's passing is akin to the death of Thomas Edison or Tim Berners-Lee (thankfully still with us.) In the realm of music, his impact is just as profound. He provided musicians with instruments that let them create sounds which were unheard of previously. A true innovator.

Great work, Bob. We'll never forget you! :D

I was very upset about this for several reasons. For one thing, I'd long ago developed a strong affection for the guy. For another thing, analog has just lost its strongest advocate, and he'd just fairly recently come out a swinging after a long respite. For a third thing, memento mori--but let's not go into THAT.

The piece in the New York Times last night never mentioned voltage-controlled synthesis once, and that's ridiculous.

Yeah, it does seem a shame that analogue is on the way out.

I guess it all comes down to money in the end- I mean, my guitar rig would be all analogue if I could afford it, but I just plain can't.

That's unfortunate, nothing like the little moog lines Here Comes the Sun.

RIP Mr.Moog

It's not on the way out. It went out nearly completely decades ago, and then it came back five years or so ago and has been gathering strength ever since. Moog was instrumental (so to speak) in the resurgence.

Exactly my reaction.
