Pretend you can't tell when the moon turns the tides.
Pretend that your life's full of laughs and free rides.
When the ocean is high you won't remember the lies,
And you'll wake in your dream wondering how anyone dies.
Your ocean is calm.
But the waves underneath
Will soon break the shore.
And its jagged edges will cut your feet
As you walk hand-in-hand
With the story you mold from your lies and deceit.
The waves as they break will wear down the baracade
And the force of the free tide will rush through your insides
And with all that clutter gone you will see the path you're on
And how it ends.
You could turn around,
Cut eyeholes in the mask,
This story doesn't last.
Or you could...
Pretend you can't tell when the summer morphs to fall.
Pretend that your life's full, that you have it all.
When the seasons pass by you won't remember the lies
And you'll wake late at night wondering why anyone cries.
Pretend that your life's full of laughs and free rides.
When the ocean is high you won't remember the lies,
And you'll wake in your dream wondering how anyone dies.
Your ocean is calm.
But the waves underneath
