I've been wanting to get into piano/keyboard lately since it's great for theory and looks like a lot of fun to be able to play. I was wondering what kinda kit I ought to be looking for... I have no idea about anything that affects a piano's playability.

I love the tones Fender Rhoads give out, and the portability of them. I really don't like playing on most keyboards because they just feel... plastic and flimsy, and I dig solid feeling gear. I wouldn't mind an "acoustic" piano either, but I don't have much money to spend on it. (400$ is probably my limit.)

Anyone have suggestions for me? Basically I know nothing about keyboards/pianos.

This may sound lame to some of the players out there, but I started out on a 400$ casio keyboard that I bought at sam's club. If you're just starting out, I would say that is more than enough to use. You don't want to start out on anything elaborate because it really isnt worth the sacrifice for 1, and for 2.. work your way toward a better board. If you don't want to be a keyboard player, than you will want to invest in a piano or a weighted keyboard. I strongly back the Casio keyboard because I learned on it and it was a great help. The sounds really arent too cheesy either. And think, once you get much better, buy a better keyboard. I believe the casio is the WK 3000 that I had.
