OK, so I'm in a band, basically as the sole guitarist (do leads and rhythm). However, we plan on adding a second "co-guitarist" within the next couple months. If you catch my drift, since I'm no longer forced to play Fifths and cheezy minors scales full time, I can try to incorporate some of my piano/keyboard talent (about 3 years self-taught). I'm currently looking a MIDI rig to replace my current portable practice keyboard though (a cheap CASIO 61 key thing). Do any of you use a MIDI setup? Any difficulties (other than the initial programming)?

Make sure you have a pretty fast system, or else you'll get latency. If you have a fast system though and some good software.....you'll kill.

No, I don't catch your drift. What does MIDI have to do with this?

Yeah, if you are going to use MIDI, you are going to use a MIDI controller to control a softsynth, and you would need to bring your computer with you to your practices. Or to control another keyboard/rackmount synth. Which would be pretty pointless unless you already have a rackmount. You best bet is to buy a keyboard or synth with on-board sounds.
