I don't use mine enough...

They are rather funky though.

First of all, they are NOT called "keytars". That's IDIOTIC. Second of all, **** them. If you want to be a total dork, and apparently you do, just get a ****ing accordian.

Ned, instead of being obnoxious, stick yourself on the next 'plane to Ireland, go see a folk band there and then call all accordian players "dorks".

Then, stop trying to swear and failing so very badly.

Finally, consider the volume of slang in the world of musical instruments today, saying that that type of midi controller was not a keytar would be like saying tuning pegs are not called 'tuners'.

You've let yourself down Ned.

You've let yourself down Ned.

I was in a very bad mood at the time, and also very rushed, but, please, if we really do have to discuss these atavistic testimonies to the...let's say...silliness...of the seventies, can we at least call them something else than "keytars"? The English language does not deserve to be abused so. I realize that nowadays, given the ubiquity and increasing frankness of kinky sex columns, that the traditional term "strap-on" might be somewhat inadvisable, depending on the audience, but there are many alternatives.

Moaner, consider getting a life. You had already long ago proved you haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about, no matter the subject, and thus your posting is redundant.

To be honest, I'd consider spending time on here flaming teengaers (on the internet!) just because you can and it makes you feel like a big man, and waving your musical knowledge around like the phallus you have time after time proved yourself to be, rather than going to a Jazz forum of your musical (but clearly not social) peers rather lacking in the "life" department.

Moaner, consider getting a life. You had already long ago proved you haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about, no matter the subject, and thus your posting is redundant.

Really? Because I'd consider saying that anybody who played a certain instrument was a "dork" (a word i'd've thought you'd object being put into the dictionary, not embrace) was immeasurably more ignorant than sharing advice with guitarists.

What, all of it?

Seriously, find someone who shares that opinion and I'll be impressed. You certaintly are capable of helping people much more than I, yet you seldom seem to. Strange, eh?

"Midi controller to be used standing up" does not exactly roll off the tongue, but I accept we should probably start looking for a better name for them.

I'd say they were more of an 80s thing.

That aforementioned thread pretty much gives you all the info you need. Before you buy though, see if there's anybody you know who's trying to get rid of one. My uncle had an old Yamaha SHS-10 collecting dust in his basement which I got for free. :thumb:

Um...yeah. Is there some problem with that? I think it's a neat little synth.

 Yeah, it is a bit of a "munchkin", but that compactness can be very useful sometimes. For instance, it came in handy as a portable MIDI controller when I was on vacation this summer.
