Last night I hired out my PA to a small local pub. All went well, we set up as usual:
Samson Resound RS215 cabs, dasiy chained to a pair of Class D 1x15 cabs, powered by an Audiohead 2x500 poweramp (actually pumping out about 600 watts a side becaus it worked out that were were running it to 3.6 ohms or something silly like that)
We tried something a little different that I don't know if anyone does around here and we used a PC for real time FX and stuff. I don't particularly understand that side of stuff, the guy who owns half the PA is a computer wizz, and did all of it (he runs Linux, which I don't understand to begin with). What I do understand is that we had the computers soundcard (4 mono in and out) on the consoles main inserts (the main mix) so we could disconnect it in a hurry if the PC went down. We Eq'd the room with Pink noise generated by the PC, picked up by a condenser, then back into the PC and adjusted my Behringer EQ so everything was flat. Then I played a track through and made what little adjustments needed to be made. We had Reverb from the PC running on Aux 1, and a few notch filters to kill sneaky feedback.

There was a little panick when the band turned up with an acoustic guitar they wanted micing for a couple of acoustic songs, but luckily we had a condenser handy and a spare stand for it, had a little feedback trouble at the very beggining, but fixed it sharpish. Other than that it all went fine.
And of course, after the soundcheck the band went off, had a drink, and turned the amps up again when they came back, grr  All in all a good night, and got payed £40 for something I enjoy doing, so not bad at all.
What I wanted to ask was about Drum Mic clips, the ones that clip to the rim of the drum, how are they? Do they cause any feedback problems? They're alot cheaper than buying stands, but will the sound suffer?
