I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy sound card. It's been a year since I've had my PC designed for me, but I think I opted to go with a 5.1 Surround Sound one. I'm having trouble figuring out which SB Audigy sound card I have exactly. When I look at the properties on my computer, it says A400, and when I look at the model number on the card (SB0162), it matches the basic Creative SB Audigy card. Not 2, or Gamer, or anything like that, but just the base one.
I think my card is capable of doing recordings because it came with all sorts of recording software from Creative.
So if I buy a converter for my guitar cable, I should be able to plug into the Line In and record, right? And what is the quality on the recording projected to be? Im not looking for progressional grade, I'm just looking for solid sound quality where it could pass for real.
The other thing is, my band is looking to self record. Our singer has a decently priced PA at about $650, I forget the specifics, but its basically a mini-sound board where you could plug instruments into it too and stuff. The board has a Line Out jack. If we bought a cable and went from the Board's Line Out to my soundcard's Line In, would it be possible to record that way?
