Fixing Stripped Screws

i found this on the internet and it helped me with fixing my stripped screwholes.

Supplies- Glue (not super glue), flat edge toothpick

1. remove screw
2. put glue on the end of the flat edge toothpick, insert the toothpick into the screw hole.
3. break the end of the toothpick (with the glue on it) off in the hole.
4 let the glue dry, when the glue dries, screw the screw back into the hole. it just hold tight.

So basically just filling the hole back up with glue and a toothpick?

I can't see how that would fix the stripped screw itself :S

How about just putting a new screw in?

yea i meant fixing stripped threads in the wood, if you have a stripped screw, just replace the screw.

yeah great for when you de-thread the strap button holes i dont bother with the glue and i use a matchstick but it works good

Crumpled up sticky tape also works well. Not as well, but it's easier to screw the thing in.

They actually have little plastic things that you put into the hole. I put some in mine, and they have been perfect for 2 years. I also used a bit of wood glue on mine for added security.

I didnt know that they had plastic things made just for that. Oh well, my toothpicks seem to be working fine for me.

the really expensive carvin bodies have the metal screwholes so the screws don't stripp the wood. I'm gonna put some in my bass :)

The strap peg ripped out of my Ibanez and just shoved a piece of toothpick in.

No glue.... but it held.

Any hardware store should carry the plastic inserts. As for the aformentioned metal ones, I'm guessing a hardware store would also carry those.

They're called Rawl plugs ( i think thats how it's spelled) and ANY hardware shop should carry masses of them unless it's owner is retarded.
