oh i forgot track 12, which is "Untitled"

and

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?albumid=976

this review has the album name as the band name and band name as the album name

so it should be put in with the other Genesis reviews under "Selling England by the Pound"

A ;) ended up in the middle, for some reason. I know I didn't put it there, and I'd be glad if someone removed it. Thanks!

Or use (' ') instead of (" "), it does not happen with it

When I submitted this review:

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=3638&genreid=38

It didn't come up at the new reviews column which doesn't give me the privlieges of people looking at it from there so it makes me feel that it was a waste of time, is there any chance of you showing the review on the "New Reivew" column. Thanks.

I didn't put the title of the album, which is Lightbulb Sun and the the album came out May 2000, not 2005.

Also, spaces after the songs would be nice.

Did I do this right?

This may seem stupid, but it's been annoying me for the longest time. Can the "I" in "Fire" be un-capitalized please?

Shouldn't Metallica be in the Thrash Metal section?

Jom
10-19-2005, 12:06 PM
Well, their music has been a combination of genres over their entire discography. If you want to call St. Anger thrash, you go ahead and do that :)

But most people describe them as a thrash band.

But most people describe them as a thrash band.

My point is that they genre-hopped. If a new user who didn't know a thing about Metallica went to their page and saw them labeled as thrash, they would not be mistaken... in their early years.

However, if this same new user went to Metallica and they were labeled as thrash, yet their entire discography was in order, he might think, "Ooh, St. Anger and Re-Load are thrash metal." This is wrong, obviously.

Sputnikmusic does not want to steer anyone in the wrong direction or present inaccurate information.

As people trying to communicate accurate information, we would be failing in that department; hence, Metallica are labeled as metal.

But that would lead to a mislabel either way. The old stuff is definitely thrash; the new stuff isn't. So by putting them under metal, aren't we saying, "oh these guys aren't thrash at all" which is false?

Jom

Right. My point was that new Metallica listeners aren't genre elitists like you and I are. Metallica are thrash? Yes, early years. Are they thrash now? No.

Are they metal from the beginning to current times? Yes.

By putting them under an accurate, yet extremely vague (by your terms) genre, this does not lead to confusion.

Cursive - The Ugly Organ (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=4158)

I think mine should be tagged as the one that comes up first. The other one is pretty bad.

Mods, there is something wrong with the Radiohead Kid A reviews. Sometimes I see no band name, just Kid A. And when I click on someone else's Kid A review, there isn't a link to my review under the other reviews section. When I added Kid A to my favorites, once again no band name appeared. I went back a while ago, and instead of Radiohead it said some obscure band that I haven't heard of.

I am very proud of my review for Rhythm And Stealth by Leftfield. However, after a couple days of it not being commented on, I threw a fit and bitched about it. I went back and edited the posts, but the only comments for that review are from me, Senor Whippy, and Milkman, and they were bickering with each other. Could someone just delete the posts for this review? I want there to be a clean slate, so it looks better, and I am quite embarassed about my actions. This review only has one vote, a neg. I think Senor Whippy negged it just because I was compaining.

I don't like one of my reviews. Maybe I'll redo it some day, I don't know. It was too short, and poorly written. DELETE!

Yeah, I know of some problems to do with that album, which seem to be part of some bigger problems in general...they're really odd to be honest, but I'll try and get mx to take a look.
I suspect it's to do with the bnad Broken Social Scene, mx reviewed them early on, but I think he deleted it. Now on Sputnik, it seems that Broken Social Scene is some sort of ghost band, haunting the database.

They don't show up in the "B" list, despite the fact that they've had other reviews since then. Just then I noticed the review "Broken Social Scene - Kid A", the link just went to the proper Kid A review.
